celebrating pride through colours 🌈

pride is about the acceptance of the diversity that exists amongst us, representing a call for greater inclusivity. It encourages us to linger and sit with difference, approaching it with curiosity and respect, whilst holding space for questions 🫂

here we see light sculptures by artist Tow Theow Huang, with each comprising of acrylic sheets with variously etched patterns on their surfaces, placed one behind another. When they were first displayed at Alpha Gallery in 1977, visitors were invited to rearrange and rotate these sheets to form their own layered patterns and produce visually diverse outputs, in turn allowing for a more enriching and dynamic viewing experience 🦄

p.s. these works are currently on display at Singapore Gallery 2 of 𝘚𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘢𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘦 𝘚𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘴: 𝘗𝘢𝘵𝘩𝘸𝘢𝘺𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘋𝘦𝘵𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘴, however, they are presently presented for viewing only—so 👀 𝗻𝗼 𝘁𝗼𝘂𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗹𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲 👀 may they continue to spark reflection from where they stand ✨✨

with the tensions and distractions in the world, we can extend this attitude to our daily lives regardless of our religion and beliefs. may we hold space for self-reflection and recentering, and treat ourselves and each other with generosity and kindness 🤲🏻

selamat hari raya haji✨

hari raya haji (or aidiladha) is the Great Day of Sacrifice for the Muslim community. it falls commemorates the completion of the Muslim pilgrimage to Mecca known as haj.

unlike hari raya puasa which is filled with festivities and celebration, hari raya haji encourages compassion, sacrifice, humility and generosity; the importance of spirituality and moral values over material desires.

may we continue to share and contribute to out communities generously and graciously 🤲🏻

it takes great courage to be a mother—to know that you have the unavoidable power to
shape and mould someone's life since even before they day they're born 🌱

nonetheless, mothers (and in every shape of the word) fearlessly take on that labour and love their children with their own unique manifestations of love and care 💝

as youth, beginning to stand on our own two
feet, we must remember, honour and be grateful for the women that have even brought us to where we are and know that their touch on our souls is everlasting 💞

happy mother's day, mothers, and thank you for everything you do and trying despite every doubt and challenge ✨now, please have your fun too! 🍰

just wanted to do a lil shallow dive into the significance of labour day in singapore, and what this means to youth now as we enter the workforce and begin adulting 😩

it appears it's about time we start planting seeds for what we envision our futures to be.
work is inevitably a large part of our lives and we must take ownership of how we choose to advocate for ourselves, one another and more humanity in and outside the office 💨

we can have bread AND whimsy 🥯✨🍞🧚🏻‍♀️🥖
