[Our Multiracial Harmony is Being Targeted]

Singapore is proudly multiracial and multicultural.

We are now seeing multiple videos originating from overseas targeting our Indian community and trying to divide us along racial lines.

These videos are designed to create distrust, make communities question one another, and weaken the harmony we have built over generations.

This is unacceptable.

We cannot allow outsiders to divide Singaporeans or undermine the place every community rightfully has in our society. When one community is targeted, all of us must stand together.

The authorities have acted firmly and requested platforms to disable access to these posts locally.

This is not who we are. Don’t share such content. Protect our harmony.

Singapura dibina atas kepelbagaian kaum, agama dan budaya dan itulah kekuatan kita.

Kini muncul beberapa video dari luar negara yang cuba melaga-lagakan masyarakat serta menyasarkan komuniti India di Singapura.

Tujuannya jelas: menimbulkan rasa curiga, memecahkan perpaduan dan mempersoalkan tempat seseorang dalam masyarakat kita.

Ini tidak boleh diterima.

Kita tidak boleh benarkan pihak luar merosakkan keharmonian yang dibina bersama selama ini. Apabila satu masyarakat disasarkan, kita semua perlu bersatu.

Jangan kongsi kandungan sebegini. Pertahankan perpaduan kita.

𝗚𝘂𝘆𝗮𝗻𝗮: “𝗟𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝘆 𝗪𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀” 🇬🇾

Throwback to my visit to Guyana, the only English-speaking country in South America and a nation rapidly transforming on the global stage. With a population of under a million people, Guyana is now one of the world’s fastest-growing economies, while pushing ahead in areas like infrastructure, food security and AI partnerships.

Its name means “Land of Many Waters”, and its culture is a unique blend of Indigenous, African, Indian, Chinese and European influences; something you can see in its people, food and traditions.

One of the nicest surprises during the work trip? Meeting fellow Singaporeans along the way. No matter where you are in the world, somehow we always find one another 🇸🇬🙂 All the best to Brian, Jason and Ding En who are running key roles in the maritime industry there and to Hong-Eng, who is the global chief scientist for a tech conglomerate, working in the region.

Always proud to see fellow Singaporeans flying our flag high. Looking forward to stronger Singapore–Guyana ties and more opportunities for Singaporeans and Singapore businesses

Visited the affected households following the fire incident at Block 439 on Sunday.

Thankfully there were no serious casualties. Four persons were conveyed to hospital for medical checks and are receiving care and support. I am also relieved that the SCDF firefighter taken to hospital as a precaution has since been discharged and is recovering well.

Investigations into the cause of the fire are ongoing. Following inspections and checks by HDB and the relevant agencies, residents can be assured that the necessary assessments have been completed and the area has been deemed safe.

I am heartened by how our community came together so quickly, from our SCDF officers, frontline responders, PA & Town Council staff and grassroots volunteers, to agencies and community partners who stepped forward to provide immediate assistance, basic necessities and interim shelter.

We will continue supporting affected households through this period. Fire safety is a shared responsibility. Let’s continue to play our part in keeping our homes and community safe.

This morning, I spent a peaceful Vesak Day at Uttamayanmuni Buddhist & Hai Inn Temples with fellow Grassroots Advisers, Minister Dr Tan See Leng, Acting Minister Jeffrey Siow & Dr Choo Pei Ling, wishing all Buddhist residents and congregants who were there reflecting on the teachings of compassion, wisdom and mindfulness.🙏🪷

May the day bring peace and happiness, to all devotees. Wishing everyone a meaningful Vesak Day! ✨

At the Shangri-La Dialogue this weekend. This was the 24th iteration and it has become one of the world’s premier defence and security forums, where ministers, military leaders and policymakers gather to discuss some of the most pressing challenges facing our region and beyond.

Beyond the plenaries, we also had good bilateral meetings with counterparts and partners to strengthen cooperation, advance Singapore’s interests, and contribute towards regional peace, stability and resilience.

One exchange that stood out for me was during the Q&A following US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth’s speech, where Chinese military academic and observer Senior Colonel D**g challenged comments previously made by General Xavier Brunson, Commanding General of US Forces Korea, regarding strategic competition and regional positioning in Asia. D**g referenced President Trump’s stated interest in maintaining good relations with President Xi Jinping during the recent US state visit to China and asked whether such remarks reflected official Pentagon views.

General Brunson explained that his earlier comments had been made in an educational setting with War College students, intended to encourage different strategic perspectives, and stressed that remarks should be understood in their proper context.

For me, that exchange captured why dialogues like these matter. In today’s geopolitical climate, countries will naturally have different perspectives, strategic anxieties and national interests. But understanding context, asking difficult questions directly, and hearing concerns from all sides openly are important to reducing misperceptions and avoiding unintended escalation.

For small states like Singapore, keeping channels open, maintaining dialogue and strengthening partnerships remain essential to advancing our interests and supporting regional peace and stability. 🇸🇬

𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝗺𝘆 𝗟𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗪𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗧𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁.

Not exactly the most exciting document to update on a busy week but perhaps one of the most important.

As parents, many of us spend so much time planning for school runs, enrichment classes, holidays and tomorrow’s to-do lists. But how often do we plan for the “what ifs”?

Not because we expect the worst, but because we want to be prepared for the future especially when you have young children or elderly parents depending on you.

As Chairman of the MUIS Islamic Legacy Planning Workgroup, I often say this: legacy planning is not only for seniors or the wealthy. It is for all of us. It is about love, responsibility and easing the burden on those we leave behind.

A will is just one part of the journey. We should also think about CPF and insurance nominations, LPAs, ACPs, and having conversations with our loved ones.

Because legacy planning is not about preparing for death. It is about protecting the loved ones we leave behind. ❤️

Wasiat hanyalah permulaan. Penamaan CPF dan insurans, LPA, ACP, hibah, wakaf dan persiapan bersama keluarga juga penting.

𝗦𝗼𝗹𝗮𝘁 𝗥𝗮𝘆𝗮 𝗱𝗶 𝗞𝗲𝗮𝘁 𝗛𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝘇𝗮

Alhamdulillah, saya berbesar hati dapat bersama para penduduk menunaikan solat Hari Raya Aidiladha yang dianjurkan oleh Masjid Al-Khair di Keat Hong Plaza pagi ini.

Ini merupakan kali kedua solat Hari Raya diadakan di Keat Hong Plaza, dan sambutan yang menggalakkan jelas menunjukkan bahawa ruang solat yang lebih dekat dengan kawasan perumahan amat dihargai oleh para jemaah.

Di seluruh Chua Chu Kang GRC termasuk kawasan Yew Tee dan Limbang, sebanyak 3 lokasi baharu telah ditambah, menjadikan jumlah keseluruhan kepada 8 lokasi pada tahun ini. Selain memudahkan penduduk, inisiatif seperti ini turut membantu mengurangkan kesesakan di masjid berdekatan.

Saya amat menghargai usaha Masjid Al-Khair dengan sokongan M³ di Chua Chu Kang, serta para pegawai, ahli MMB dan sukarelawan yang telah menjayakan inisiatif ini.

Sekali lagi, Selamat Hari Raya Aidiladha ✨

Alhamdulillah, I was glad to join residents for the Hari Raya Aidiladha prayers organised by Al-Khair Mosque at Keat Hong Plaza this morning.

This is the second time that we have organised the prayer session at Keat Hong Plaza, and the encouraging turnout reflects how meaningful it is for residents to have a prayer spaces closer to home.

I am grateful to Al-Khair Mosque, with the support of M³ at Chua Chu Kang, as well as the staffs, Mosque members and volunteers who helped make this possible.

Once again, Selamat Hari Raya Aidiladha ✨

𝐇𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐲 𝐌𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫’𝐬 𝐃𝐚𝐲

Happy Mother’s Day to all the amazing mothers and mother figures in our Keat Hong community 🌷

I spent the evening at the Keat Hong WEC Mother’s Day celebration, and the atmosphere throughout the night felt warm and lively. There were performances by our preschoolers, cultural dance items, live music, and even a special performance put together by our own grassroots leaders. Everywhere I turned, residents were enjoying themselves, some singing along, others busy taking photos and videos of their children on stage.

I also had the opportunity to hand out crocheted flowers to the mothers who attended. A small gesture, but it sparked plenty of smiles and conversations along the way.

Mothers carry so much, often quietly and without expecting recognition. Gatherings like these matter as it provides us an opportunity to celebrate and appreciate the women who continue to hold families and communities together. Through efforts by Keat Hong WEC and our grassroots volunteers, we continue creating spaces where residents can come together, connect, and support one another in meaningful ways. ❤️
