Strong partnerships are built on trust, friendship and a shared vision for the future. ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ฉ Singapore is fully committed to the partnership with Batam and Indonesia.

That was my message when I sat down for a podcast with Batam Mayor Amsakar Achmad during my recent visit to Batam.

Pak Amsakar referred to this as a historic moment, as no other Singapore office holder has participated in a podcast in Indonesia. I look forward to more historic moments between our two countries as we build on the strong foundations of our relationship and unlock new opportunities for our peoples.

July and August were fulfilling months of house visits as I made my way around Zones 1, 2, 3, 4 and 8, spending time with residents and hearing what matters to them. โค๏ธ

Across Zones 1, 2 and 4, we spoke about improvements coming to the neighbourhood. There was keen interest in the upcoming Home Improvement Programme at Zone 1 & 2, while residents at Zone 4 were excited to see Keat Hong Park developments around the estate taking shape. These conversations are important as residentsโ€™ feedback continues to guide how we improve Keat Hong together.

One conversation at Zone 2 was especially personal. A resident shared how a family member had been involved in an accident overseas a few months ago and expressed his appreciation for the prompt assistance and support during the difficult period. I was glad to hear that his family member is now recovering steadily.

Over at Zone 3, I chanced upon a multigenerational family gathering. Seeing everyone spending time together under one roof was a lovely sight and made the visit particularly memorable.

In August, I continued my house visits at Blocks 427 and 428 in Zone 8. I shared with residents about the possibility of a new lift that could serve every floor, something I know would make a difference to their daily lives as the existing lifts do not currently stop at every level.

From improvements around our estate to the personal stories residents share with me, every visit gives me a better understanding of the people and families who call Keat Hong home. Thank you for always welcoming me and taking the time to chat. ๐Ÿซถ

Alhamdulillah, our MUIS Islamic Legacy Planning Workgroup ILPW came together to reflect on our journey and envision how Islamic Legacy Planning can continue to grow and serve our community for generations to come.

Fittingly, we gathered at the White Label located in the heritage building along Jalan Sultan. This is the site of the historic Al-Ahmadiah Press building. As Shamsul, who leads our Secretariat, shared, this area was once frequented by prospective Hajj pilgrims and returning hujjaj seeking religious texts and materials. The Press also printed and disseminated Quran and Islamic publications across Singapore and the wider Nusantara.

There is something meaningful about looking to the future in a place so connected to our past. Legacy is not only what we leave behind; it is what we build today for those who come after us.

May Allah guide our efforts and make them a lasting source of benefit for our community, insyaAllah. ๐Ÿคฒ

Alhamdulillah, MUIS ILPW telah berkumpul untuk mengimbas perjalanan kita dan membayangkan bagaimana usaha Perancangan Legasi Islam dapat terus berkembang serta memberi manfaat kepada masyarakat untuk generasi akan datang.

Sesuai sekali, kami berkumpul di bangunan bersejarah Al-Ahmadiah Press. Kawasan ini suatu ketika dahulu sering dikunjungi bakal jemaah Haji dan para hujjaj yang mencari kitab serta bahan-bahan agama. Al-Ahmadiah Press juga mencetak dan menyebarkan Mushaf Al-Quran dan penerbitan Islam bukan sahaja di Singapura, malah ke seluruh Nusantara.

Ada makna yang mendalam apabila kita membayangkan masa hadapan masyarakat kita di tempat yang begitu dekat dengan sejarah kita. Legasi bukan sekadar apa yang kita tinggalkan tetapi apa yang kita bina hari ini untuk generasi selepas kita.

Semoga Allah membimbing usaha kita dan menjadikannya manfaat yang berpanjangan buat masyarakat kita, insyaAllah. ๐Ÿคฒ

[Immigration Clearance from Vehicle]

Visited Immigration & Checkpoints Authorityโ€™s Tuas Checkpoint to see firsthand the progress of the Automated Passenger Clearance System.

The system is expected to be operationalised next year and will enable travellers to perform self-immigration clearance from the comfort of their vehicles, using contactless biometrics.

This will strengthen border security, increase clearance throughput, and provide travellers with a more seamless clearance experience.

I also took the opportunity to thank our officers for their dedication in embracing new technology while keeping our borders secure.

Happy Childrenโ€™s Day!

A wonderful morning celebrating with our Keat Hong Stars at Zulfa Kindergarten and PCF Sparkletots! โญโค๏ธ

It was heartwarming to read, play games and share plenty of smiles with our young ones. This year, we also prepared a special Keat Hong activity book for children across our Keat Hong neighbourhood โ€” a fun way for them to learn, explore and discover more about the community they call home.

It was also heartening to see our volunteers come together, including our Zone 9 volunteers at Block 484A, to create a joyful morning for our children. Moments like these remind us of the strong community spirit we share and the many hands that help make Keat Hong a caring place for our young ones to grow.

To all our Keat Hong Stars โ€” dream big, stay curious and keep shining! Weโ€™ll be cheering you on every step of the way. ๐ŸŒŸ

This yearโ€™s Mid-Autumn Joy was special as we came together to celebrate the official opening of our newly rejuvenated Tembusu Park! ๐ŸŽ‰๐Ÿฎ

It was heartwarming to see the park come alive with our residents and families, enjoying the evening and spending time together. With a new playground, fitness corner, Multi-Purpose Hall with toilets and more, Tembusu Park is now an even more welcoming space for everyone in our Keat Hong community to enjoy.

We were also delighted to have Minister Jeffrey Siow joining us and share more good news with our residents! Keat Hong will see more improvements in the months ahead, from Friendly Streets that will make our roads safer, to a new covered linkway connecting the bus stop to Keat Hong 253 Market, keeping our journeys sheltered from rain or shine. The upgrading of Keat Hong 253 Market under Remaking Our Heartland will also bring added convenience, including a new escalator.

There is much taking shape around Keat Hong, with new and refreshed spaces, safer streets and better-connected journeys; all with our residents and families at the heart of it. As our neighbourhood continues to grow and evolve, we look forward to creating more opportunities for our Keat Hong community to come together and connect. Together with our partners and agencies, we will continue working to make Keat Hong an even more vibrant and welcoming home for everyone. โค๏ธ

Honoured to attend the Gala Premiere of PACEใ€Š่„š่ธๅฎžๅœฐใ€‹ a deeply Singaporean story about second chances, family, resilience and finding the courage to keep moving forward.

Congratulations to writer-director Jonathan Choo, and the wonderful cast led by Desmond Tan, alongside veteran actor ๅคงๅ“ฅZhu Houren, Elaine Jin, Joel Choo, Simon Khung (Simonboy) and Zaki Hussain, as well as the entire crew, for bringing this inspiring story to life.

Desmond plays Malcolm, a former drug offender trying to rebuild his life after rehabilitation, finding purpose through running while confronting fractured family relationships and the judgment of society. His commitment to the role including gaining 15kg and subsequently losing 20kg reflects the lengths the team went to tell this story authentically.

The story resonates strongly with what we stand for through the Yellow Ribbon Project. Rehabilitation does not end when someone leaves prison or completes treatment. Reintegration takes a community: people willing to look beyond a personโ€™s past, open doors, offer encouragement and give someone the space to begin again.

And behind every person rebuilding his or her life is often a family rebuilding alongside them. Thank you especially to those with lived experiences who stepped forward to contribute to this film, and to everyone who continues to stand by our desistors and their families through the difficult journey of recovery and reintegration.

Sometimes a second chance is not about starting over. It is simply about finding the strength and having someone beside you to take the next step.

I hope Singaporeans will come out and support PACE, a local film with a story that can resonate with all of us. ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡ฌ
