Li Foundation recently hosted members of the leadership team from the Lions Club of Singapore, including District Governor-Elect Lawrence Sew and Chairman of Lions Befrienders Alex Lim, for a meaningful exchange on community impact, with a particular focus on eldercare. The discussion explored how foundations, volunteer networks, and community organisations can collaborate more intentionally to meet evolving social needs, especially in response to Singaporeโs ageing population. The exchange was also personally meaningful, as PDG Lionel Li, Charter President Dr. Ada Zhang, and Lion Candy Goh are all members of LCS Bifrost - ๆฐๅ ๅกๅฐ่น็น็ฎๅญไผ.
Founded on a spirit of service, Lions Club International is one of the worldโs largest volunteer organisations, with an international reach and a long-standing presence in Singapore. Initiatives such as Lions Befrienders and Lions Home for the Elders exemplify its integrated and relational approach to eldercare โ addressing social isolation, providing care services, and promoting dignity in ageing.
A key focus of the conversation was Relay Majulah, a ground-up initiative that has grown into a powerful platform for collective giving. First launched in 2019 during Singaporeโs bicentennial celebrations, the relay has evolved from a symbolic island-wide run into a long-term movement to promote unity, resilience, and giving. Its most recent edition, Relay SG60, brought together over 60 teams to run 600 kilometres over 2.5 days, raising funds and mobilising the community to support over 300 Community Chest-backed programmes.
Looking ahead, Relay Majulah 2026 will shift its focus to better support seniors across Singapore amidst our rapidly ageing society. Tapping on the growing popularity of โsuper slow joggingโ, ๐น๐๐๐๐ ๐ด๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐ ๐ฌ๐๐

We aim to bring this form of exercise into the heartlands, co-led by running clubs and volunteers in partnership with the Lions Club of Singapore, creating safe and welcoming spaces where seniors can stay active, connected, and engaged.
