CMPU - Creative Media and Publishing Union A trade union representing the creative media, publishing, journalism, e-commerce and gaming sectors.

The Creative Media and Publishing Union was formed on 1st of January 2015. Our formation was through the amalgamation of Singapore Press Holdings Employees’ Union (SPHEU) and Singapore National Union of Journalists (SNUJ). Together, we became an industry-wide union which represents employees in the creative media, publishing, journalism sectors, as well as other adjacent industries. We are an affiliated union of the National Trades Union Congress (NTUC).

Yesterday, CMPU delegates came together at the Ordinary Convention of Delegates 2026 to review the Union's progress over the past mid-term (2024-2026), discuss key priorities for the future, and reaffirm our commitment to building a stronger and more future-ready union. Together, we remain committed to better wages, work prospects, welfare, and better lives for workers in the industries we represent.

CMPU members! The NTUC Care (U Stretch) applications are open till 5 August 2026 (4pm)! Eligible members can receive up to $120 e-Vouchers for daily necessities. Members who wish to apply must have at least 6 continuous months of membership at the point of application and must not be in arrears.

For members without family member(s) staying in same household in Singapore
•⁠ ⁠Monthly gross personal income of $1,850 and below
For members with family member(s) staying in same household in Singapore

Our warmest congratulations to NTUC Singapore Secretary-General 黄志明 on his appointment to the Cabinet.

He has been a steadfast voice for workers, ensuring their interests remain at the heart of conversations on AI and workforce transformation. Through initiatives such as the Tripartite Jobs Council and AI Ready SG, he has played a key role in strengthening support for workers to upskill, adapt and thrive in a rapidly evolving economy.

We wish him every success as he takes on his Cabinet responsibilities and continues championing the interests of workers and their families in Singapore.

Last week, we met with our Council of Advisors and had meaningful conversations on CMPU’s plans for the future in a world where work is changing faster than ever.

In his opening speech, CMPU Vice-President Abdul Azis bin Ahmad reaffirmed CMPU's commitment to supporting businesses while helping workers remain relevant and resilient in an evolving workforce.

Our advisors challenged us to dream bigger. In a Labour Movement that lives by its values, we must also remember that every worker's journey is different, shaped by where they are in their career and who they are. Everyone's lived experience is different, and so is their experience with work itself. As the union representing the creative media and publishing, we will strive to meet members where they are so that every worker feels seen, heard, and represented.

Appreciate our advisors Brother Desmond Lee, Sister Hazlina Abdul Halim, and Brother Elmie Nekmat for your time, insights and steadfast support. Let's continue growing CMPU, together 💪
