This Dragon Boat Festival, we were treated to a special surprise from Mdm Ang*, who attends our Dementia Day Care Centre.

Mdm Ang lovingly prepared homemade dumplings, sharing a cherished Dragon Boat Festival tradition with fellow seniors and staff. It was a heartwarming reminder that familiar routines and meaningful activities can continue to bring purpose, connection, and joy.

Last Friday, 24 brave young minds explored The Local Farm Gardenasia. They learnt about beetles, mantises and their roles in the ecosystem while deepening their empathy towards wildlife and appreciation of nature.

They also coped with their fears of the insects as they held them gently and observed them up close.

This is how we work at Yong-en—giving children new experiences and exposure that help them grow. ✨

We successfully hosted Yong-en's inaugural Strong & Healthy Fiesta 2026 on 6 June at JiaYou@Chinatown Point, bringing together over 250 service users, seniors, wellness enthusiasts, and community partners! 🎉

Supported by FairPrice Foundation, the event featured interactive talks, experiential workshops, frailty screenings, and a vibrant marketplace with 12 partner booths — all designed to promote holistic wellbeing and healthy ageing across body, mind, relationships, and community.

We extend our heartfelt appreciation to our speakers, facilitators, partners, and over 30 volunteers, including FairPrice Group staff, Yong-en volunteers, and our youth volunteers for their dedication and support. This would not have been possible without everyone's collective effort.

The Fiesta's success reinforces our commitment to strengthening community care networks and empowering seniors to age well, stay active, and live meaningfully in the community.

What a wonderful day exploring the heart of Chinatown together! 🎉

Yesterday, our Dementia Day Care seniors enjoyed a lively morning filled with sights, sounds, stories, and delicious food as they embarked on a guided walking tour through the neighbourhood. From traditional trades and local businesses to hidden gems along the way, the journey sparked memories, conversations, and plenty of smiles.

What made the experience even more special was that our guide, Chris, shared a special connection with Yong-en, his late mother used to attend Yong-en Dementia Day Care. He later returned to share his knowledge and passion with our seniors, creating a full-circle moment that beautifully reflects the spirit of community and giving back.

Thank you to all the volunteers who spent their morning with our seniors. From the warm welcomes by local businesses to the laughter shared along the way, every interaction created a meaningful and memorable experience for our seniors!

Our volunteers and staff have been hard at work getting everything ready, and the excitement is building! From packing goodie bags to preparing activity stations, it's all hands on deck as we gear up for a fun-filled day of health, wellness, and community.

We’re looking for volunteers to help create a warm and welcoming experience for seniors, families, and the community!

💛 Volunteer Roles:
• Set-up crew
• Ushers & registration support
• Yong-en info booth
• Room ICs
• Logistics runners
• Tear-down crew

(Roles may rotate based on event needs.)
