Peregrine Scout Group - Open

Our Peregrine Scouts set off on their night hike on 20 March at 2200hrs, organised into two teams of three. Beginning from Kampong Glam Community Club, they were tasked to cover a minimum distance of 15km before reaching a designated endpoint in Bukit Merah.

Along the route, the Scouts navigated through a series of checkpoints, including places of worship, community buildings, and transport hubs. As part of their post-hike reports, they meticulously documented these checkpoints and their surroundings through detailed sketches.

By 0330hrs, the first team arrived at the endpoint in high spirits, marking a strong finish to the challenge.

All Scouts completed the hike commendably, strengthening their camaraderie and teamwork along the way. Most importantly, they returned with meaningful experiences and lasting memories that will stay with them for years to come! 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼

Where did we explore today?

Our group of energetic Peregrine Cubs took on the challenge of exploring the northern part of Singapore while practising their map-reading skills. Armed with just a map and a set of MGR, they navigated their way through the checkpoints, grinding their endurance while learning the historical significance of the area. 🗺️✨

Meanwhile, our Peregrine Scouts posed as checkpoint masters, setting tasks for the Cubs to complete at each CP. Through these challenges, the Cubs developed teamwork, observation, and problem-solving skills while enjoying the sun and the outdoors. 🎒☀️⚜️

Saturday saw the Peregrine Cubs stepped into a well hidden outdoor BBQ environment for an exciting hands-on cooking!

No gas stove. Cubs learnt how to prepare a real fire. After carefully arranging the charcoal and fire-starters, they practiced the skills of fire starting using matches.

Before cooking, all utensils and cockery were soaped and prepped for use. Everyone was excited when it comes to the use of knives. Like all good scouts, it was definitely important to get them proficient in safe cutting! The Cubs showed impressive focus and coordination as they worjed through their veggies and sausages.

Working together in teams, they cooked their afternoon meal of noodles with veggies and sausages! From there, we witnessed the pride and satisfaction of eating something self-prepared. Priceless!

Today our Peregrine Cubs went on an exciting map-reading exercise! 🗺️

They made their way to a checkpoint and back through different waypoints, learning to navigate around their neighbourhood using roadmaps.

Along the way, they are tested on their observation skills of their surroundings, which got translated into a map plotting exercise back at base. Talk about starting young! 🌟

The Peregrine Cub Scouts conducted our Orienteering & Map Reading session at the beautiful Bishan-AMK Park last Saturday! Using 8-digit MGR coordinates, our Cubs navigated through the park and successfully located checkpoints marked with bright yellow flags 🚩. A proper way to build teamwork, sharpen navigation skills, and enjoy the outdoors! 💪✨

This year we celebrate the achievements of two outstanding Cub Scouts from Peregrine Scout Group (Open) who have attained the Chief Scout Award — the highest honour in the Cub Scout section! 🔥💪

These two young leaders have shown remarkable commitment, resilience, and initiative throughout their Scouting journey. From outdoor adventures to community service, they have embodied the Scout Promise and lived out the values of integrity, perseverance, and leadership.

👏 Well done, girls! You are an inspiration to all in our Scout family.

Heartiest congratulations to Koh YiYing, Cub Scout from Peregrine Scout Group (Open), for receiving her coveted Chief Scout Award.
Her achievement was celebrated by her family and leaders, who witnessed the culmination of her hard work and dedication.
The Award Ceremony held at the Singapore Scout Association, was graced by Ms Elysa Chen, Member of Parliament for Bishan–Toa Payoh GRC.

We would like to extend our appreciation to the South Area Commissioner, Area Leaders and all Service Scouts involved who made this event possible.

This morning, I’m honoured to attend the Chief Scout Award Ceremony held at St. Stephen’s School. The event was organised by the East Area Leaders and Area Commissioner Mr Goh Yee Heng.

The ceremony was graced by our Guest-of-Honour, Minister of State for Home Affairs and Social and Family Development, Mr Goh Pei Ming — himself a former Venture Scout from Dunman High Crane Scout Group.

It was a proud moment to witness Amelia Lau, a Cub Scout from both Maha Bodhi School and the Peregrine Scout Group (Open) - Kampong Glam Youth Network, receive her Chief Scout Award. Amelia’s dedication and active participation in the Scouting programmes truly portrays her as the role model for her juniors.
