✨Your Personal Number, Your Personal Power✨

We are all born with a unique rhythm: a number, a pattern, a code that speaks to our strengths, our purpose, and our journey. Whether it’s a life path number, a birthday, or simply a favourite digit that follows us around, numbers can hold surprising insight into who we are.

But more than the number itself, it’s what we choose to do with it that defines our power. 💪 Our latest Toastmasters meeting was nothing short of inspiring! Despite a series of last-minute changes, we powered through with positivity and teamwork, proving that resilience is truly a Toastmaster’s secret weapon.

We were thrilled to have Hock Seng with us again!🙏His unwavering enthusiasm and support brought great energy to the room. We also extend our heartfelt appreciation to all visiting Toastmasters 🌍 (Mick, Yi Mon and Luck Sien from Jurong Green TMC, ShiHui and Angeline from YuHua CC TMC, Langeline from TMCS and Jenny from TTAB TMC), who took the time to join us. Your presence elevated the meeting and enriched our shared learning experience.

Our speakers delivered a powerful mix of personal stories and practical insights. Sharon introduced herself in her second pathway, Visionary Communication, with a brave and heartfelt speech titled Stage Fright; Rakhi reminded us not to forget the little joys in life, our hobbies, the things that light us up; Isaac shared thoughtful reflections on how we can use social media more intentionally.

Then came the very competitive Table Topics session! We had 8 participants, all bringing their best. Congratulations to Angeline, who emerged as the winner with a standout response.

Our evaluators were on point too, giving encouraging and constructive feedback that helped everyone improve.

Best Prepared Speech Speaker: Sharon Ong
Best Table Topics Speaker: Angeline Lim (YuHua TMC)
Best Evaluator: Cheong Luck Sien (Jurong Green TMC)

And just when we thought the night was winding down, we had a surprise! Dr Bernard dropped by and led an impromptu mini-workshop on numerology. 🤩It was a fascinating twist that tied perfectly into our theme - our personal power to face changes with resilience.

We may have started with uncertainty, but we ended with impact. That’s the magic of Toastmasters.🌈

✨ Fake It Till You BECOME It! ✨

Our latest chapter meeting was a powerful reminder that confidence isn’t just something we have—it’s something we practice! By adopting strong body language, standing tall, and speaking with conviction, we don’t just appear confident—we become confident. 💪

Segment 1: Prepared Speeches that Inspired!
We had an incredible lineup of four prepared speeches, each delivering valuable lessons. One standout speech "Assume and Presume" was presented by our dedicated member, Linda. She has courageously started her second speech in Toastmasters pathways journey after a decade of break! 👏 Her key message? "Don’t assume!"—a simple yet profound reminder that misjudgments often come from assumptions, and true understanding comes from asking, listening, and clarifying.

Sengment 2: Table Topics – A Stage for Confidence! 🗣️
Our impromptu speakers took on the challenge with enthusiasm, stepping out of their comfort zones and embodying the Fake It Till You Become It spirit. Even those who were initially hesitant found themselves standing taller and speaking with more confidence as they embraced the moment. 🌟

Segment 3: Big Thanks to Our Evaluators🎤
Feedback is the key to growth, and we are incredibly grateful to our dedicated evaluators who helped our speakers refine their skills. Apart from that, a great appreciation to:
✨ Language Evaluator by Isabelyn from Jauhari Bilingual Toastmasters Club
✨ General Evaluator by Jillian from Bedok Toastmasters Club, and
✨ Two Project Evaluators by Bernard from The Frontier Toastmasters Club and Hock Seng from YuHua CC Toastmasters Club.
✨A shoutout to our Division Director, Joseph Yap, who has been passionately delivering both table topics and evaluation speeches, and been the best speaker for both segments!

Thank you for your commitment to supporting and uplifting our members.

Remember, confidence starts with action. Stand tall, speak up, and trust the process—because the more you practice, the more you become the confident speaker and leader you aspire to be. 🔥

See you all at our next meeting—until then, keep faking it until you BECOME it!

We often find ourselves saying "Next time" to things that scare us, holding back and letting self-doubt take control. 🛑 Indeed, self-doubt is the biggest enemy standing between us and success, often showing up as procrastination. However, what we may not realize is that a breakthrough is closer than we think. It begins with taking that first step forward.

Tonight, we witnessed an inspiring transformation as our members broke through their self-doubt and showed remarkable confidence and assurance. 🎤 We enjoyed five incredible speeches — from a motivational story featuring Anne Frank’s powerful quote, "Where there is hope, there is life," 💫 to life lessons, insights on building friendships 👫, and understanding our own communication styles 💡.

A special highlight was our dear member Linda, who bravely delivered her very first icebreaker speech in the Pathways project, sharing her fascinating life story. A big shout-out to our first-time Toastmaster of the Day (TMD), Xue Song🎉 You did an amazing job leading the meeting with confidence and grace.👏 Both of you are truly an inspiration and the best role model of self-assurance.!

Best Prepared Speech Speaker: Rakhi
Best Table Topics Speaker: Linda
Best Evaluator: Hock Seng (YuHua CC TMC)

🌟 Dare to Speak. Dare to Lead. Dare to Inspire. 🌟

Confidence isn’t something we’re born with—it’s something we build. It grows when we’re brave enough to step outside our comfort zones and take that first daring leap. And here’s the truth: you don’t need to be an expert to start—you just need the courage to try.

This was the spirit that defined our 2024-2025 Club Speech Contest.

What made this contest truly extraordinary wasn’t just the speeches—it was the heart behind every moment.💖 For many, it was a journey of firsts: first-time contestants bravely taking the stage, first-time judges and role holders stepping into a new responsibility, and a first-time contest host leading with passion and grace. This contest became more than just a competition—it became a celebration of courage, growth, and transformation.🎁🎊

A sincere thank you to all our incredible appointment holders—your will to support has made this event possible.

Here’s to daring boldly, leading fearlessly, and inspiring endlessly!👏💪💪

Our February meeting captured everyone's attention with an interesting table topic question: “If you could exchange your life with someone, who would it be and why?” 🤔 The room was filled with energy as we reflected on the notion of success. Most of us dream of a life of success, but where’s the growth if everything is smooth sailing? 🌱

We also had the privilege of witnessing our first Toastmasters contest rehearsal. 🏆 Members got a firsthand experience of the contest format, sharpening their skills in preparation for the actual one. As James Clear writes in Atomic Habits, small changes lead to remarkable results. Each of our members took a baby step forward tonight, laying the foundation for bigger wins ahead. 👣

As we step into February 2025, Hock Seng (from YuHua CC TMC) reminded us that resolutions alone don’t guarantee success. It’s the small steps, consistently taken, that bring us closer to our goals. And celebrating those small wins is definitely the secret to long-term success. 🎉

The atmosphere tonight was motivational. ✨ Members shared inspiring stories, proving that success doesn’t come by luck—it’s built by challenges and transformation. We also had the privilege of celebrating the 17th anniversary of Gek Poh Ville Toastmasters Club! 🎉 It’s been 17 years of growth, meaningful connections, and a supportive community. Here's to many more years of empowering members to find their voice and achieve their goals! 🥂✨

A special thanks to Ng Cher Khim, DTM (from TMCS), for his valuable feedback that will help us grow and excel! 🙏 We’re also deeply grateful to Vincent and Natalie (from LCS TMC) as well as Luck Sien and Zhi Xuan (from Jurong Green English TMC) for their participation. A big THANK YOU to all visiting Toastmasters here! Your involvement tonight showed how supportive and dynamic District 80 Toastmasters can be! 🌟

Want to hear more inspiring stories and see the Toastmasters-style speech contest in action? Join us next Saturday, February 15th, 1pm at Gek Poh Ville Auditorium. Public guests are welcomed! Let’s continue to grow, together. 🌱🚀
