Kopi-O Kosong, Ayam Bakar, Chee Kueh, Char Siew Noodles🍜☕

Once a month, our residents at THK Nursing Home @ Hougang make the short trip across the road to the neighbourhood kopitiam. It is one of those outings everyone looks forward to.

Everyone has their usual order. The therapy team takes down each resident's favourites and makes sure every dish and drink arrives just right.

It is a simple outing, but it means a lot to them. So if you ever spot a familiar group making the crossing at Hougang Ave 8, give them a wave or say hello. They would love that.

And if you've ever thought about volunteering, even once a month, mornings like these are a good place to start. 💛

We are proud to officially launch Singapore’s first-ever Calm Cabin located within a bus interchange — a meaningful collaboration between THK Nursing Home and Tower Transit Singapore, supported by Ang Mo Kio - Thye Hua Kwan Hospital and funded by President's Challenge. Designed to support persons living with dementia and neurodivergent individuals who may experience sensory overload in crowded public spaces, the Calm Cabin provides a safe and calming environment that promotes accessibility, inclusion, and confidence in navigating the community. This initiative reflects our continued commitment to building a more compassionate and inclusive society for seniors, caregivers, and vulnerable individuals. Special thanks to our Occupational Therapist from Ang Mo Kio - Thye Hua Kwan Hospital for their expertise in designing the sensory features within the cabin. With plans underway for two more Calm Cabins in accessible public spaces, we look forward to continuing this journey of care and community support together.
