🌟 A Decade of Healing, A Lifetime of Hope | Singapore Hainan Hwee Kuan Graces the SingHealth-DukeNUS Musculoskeletal Sciences 10th Anniversary Gala Dinner✨
On 4 September 2026 , representatives from the Singapore Hainan Hwee Kuan attended the 10th Anniversary Gala Dinner of the SingHealth-DukeNUS Musculoskeletal Sciences Academic Clinical Programme.
During the gala dinner, Mr. Wang Chin Hoo, President of the Singapore Hainan Hwee Kuan and Chairman of the Kheng Chiu Tin Hou Kong, delivered a heartfelt address. He expressed his deepest respect and gratitude to the medical teams of SGH , KKH and the private sectors for their years of selfless dedication, noting that their meticulous care goes far beyond medical treatment; it has been pivotal in restoring patient dignity . ❤️
Also gracing the event were Mr. Phua Kiah Mai (First Vice-President of Singapore Hainan Hwee Kuan & Vice-Chairman of Kheng Chiu Tin Hou Kong) and Mr. Richard Cheng (Treasurer of KCTHK). By way of background, "Hainan Smiles Medical Mission " (微笑工程) commence in 2009 until 2019. Due to Covid 19, it was paused till 2025. It resumed in 2026. Several cleft lip and palate patients and their families who flew in all the way from Hainan Island shared their journeys with the audience. Seeing their transformed lives and radiant, confident smiles was the ultimate testament to the true spirit of healing and compassion.
✨ The achievements of "Smile medical mission " (As of April 2026):
Initiated by the Singapore Hainan Hwee Kuan, this cross-border medical charity delivers life-changing, pro-bono treatment to underprivileged cleft lip and palate patients in Hainan Province, PRC.
• 🩺 Conducted clinical screenings for over 1,000 patients;
• ✂️ Provided free corrective and reconstructive surgeries for about 500 underprivileged individuals;
• ✈️ Arranged fully sponsored flights and accommodation for much needed surgeries in Singapore for complex and severe cases;
• 🏆 Was awarded the prestigious "Heartfelt Hainan" Top 10 Person/Organisations in year 2016 （感动海南”2016十大年度人物奖项） and was the sole organisation recipient, drawing high praise for their exceptional achievements in uniting overseas communities and giving back to their ancestral homeland.
