A little look back at this year’s Children’s Day celebrations, which were made all the more memorable by the people who came together to make it happen 💙

It also marked the start of our SAAS Parent Volunteer Group, with a group of parents coming together to lend their time, energy and ideas to create more meaningful experiences for our students. We’re grateful for their willingness to be part of our school community in this new, special way.

For their first stint, our parent volunteers ran a food booth where our students could choose from two different menus - and we’re pretty sure the fries, nuggets and Pocky biscuits were a hit! 😋

The celebrations brought together our SAAS Family Engagement, PE and Visual Arts departments, who collaborated to bring the safari theme to life through fun activities and body painting for our students to enjoy.

We’re thankful for everyone who came together to make Children’s Day a joyful one for our younger students, and especially to our parent volunteers, for being part of the beginning of something we hope will continue to grow 💙✨

The Parent Volunteer Group brings school parents together to connect, care for one another and build a supportive network through shared activities and events. Throwback to our recent outing to Wild Wild Wet - this time, with photos from the day!

Check out those smiles! 🥰✨

Over 400 of our clients and their families from our adult services, together with some of our senior students, teachers, coaches and staff, had a blast spending the morning at the waterpark! More than just a day out, it was a morning for our students, clients and families to be themselves and enjoy at their own pace💙

Once again, a huge thank you to for making this special morning possible 💙

Last week, over 350 of our clients from adult services, senior students, family members, staff and volunteers, enjoyed a morning at Wild Wild Wet, made possible with the support of ACE Team Foundation.

But it was more than just a day out 💙

For many of our adult clients and their families, opportunities to enjoy outings like these don’t always come easily.

While public spaces such as pools are open to everyone, enjoying them freely can be a different experience for persons with autism and their families. As they grow older, the ways they express joy and excitement may be misunderstood or judged when they differ from what others expect or are used to.

Having the space to ourselves that morning meant our clients and families could enjoy at their own pace - splashing, laughing and playing in the water in their own way. And while we are grateful to have that special space for them, we hope that one day, our families can enjoy a day out in spaces like this alongside everyone else, knowing they are accepted just as they are 💙

We are also grateful to the lifeguards, operations staff and guests services at Wild Wild Wet, who joined our CAPE team for an autism awareness training session ahead of the outing. Their understanding and support helped make the morning a more meaningful one for our senior students, clients and their families ✨

Moving to a new home is a big change for anyone. For PF, it was also a meaningful step towards greater independence and dignity - one that took months of preparation, courage and care.

PF, a former resident of St. Andrew’s Adult Home, recently moved to The LIGHT House @ Woodlands under the Enabled Living Programme (ELP).

For many persons with autism, familiar routines bring a sense of safety and predictability. While moving to ELP was a step towards greater independence for PF, it also meant navigating new sights, sounds, people and routines.

The move itself was the culmination of months of preparation, carefully planned around PF by training officers, allied professionals and care staff who supported his routines, his needs and, most importantly, the pace at which he was ready for change.

PF’s transition began long before moving day, with each step thoughtfully prepared to help him feel safe and ready for this new chapter 💙

ELP is an initiative by the Ministry of Social and Family Development and SG Enable, which supports adults with disabilities with low to moderate support needs to live independently for as long as possible, with SAAC as one of its service providers.

So thankful for initiatives such as Care@Changi by , which gave some of our DAC clients and their families the opportunity to experience an afternoon beyond the departure gates 💙

Every traveller experiences the airport differently. For many persons with autism and their families, travelling by air takes a lot of planning, preparation and, most of all, courage - especially when navigating a busy and unfamiliar airport.

For some, it may even be their first experience on a plane. For others, air travel may feel out of reach. Familiarity and routine can help, which is why knowing what to expect can make the journey a little easier. Experiences like these help persons with autism and their families build familiarity and confidence, making air travel feel a little more accessible for them ✈️💙

Happy AP, Coaches & Teachers’ Day! 💙

To our allied professionals, coaches and teachers, thank you for showing up, day after day, with patience, care and belief. We see the heart you put into what you do, and so do our students, clients and residents in their own unique ways 💙

For every inchstone celebrated, every challenging day navigated, and every small step forward, you are there. Often quietly, always wholeheartedly.

At SAAC, teaching goes far beyond the classroom. It is all-encompassing and happens in the everyday moments of our those we serve - learning to care for oneself, discovering what brings joy, finding confidence, building independence, and growing in ways that are meaningful, at their own pace.

What you do takes a special kind of heart, and calls for a depth of commitment like no other - love that is often immeasurable, patience that runs deep, and a belief in inclusion that is unwavering.

And perhaps that is why, for many of you, this is more than a job. It is a purpose. A calling. Thank you for walking alongside our students, clients, residents, their families and each other 💙
