A common misconception is that next-of-kin automatically inherits legal decision-making power if a family member loses mental capacity. In reality, without a Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA), bank accounts freeze and medical choices stall until the family applies for court deputyship.

​Yesterday, a volunteer lawyer took our Yio Chu Kang residents through the details of LPAs and Wills to address these exact risks.

For residents ready to complete the process, the branch is hosting a free LPA Form 1 certification session in October.

Some highlights from our free Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA) Form 1 certification session yesterday!

It was heartening to see so many of our residents taking proactive steps towards future planning.

A huge thank you to our lawyers and volunteers for working together to help bring this event to life and to make the certification process even more accessible to our residents.
