Today marks , a day to bring attention to the impossible choices we are increasingly facing as a consequence of major funding cuts in the global humanitarian aid sector.

Tomorrow is . To mark this day, VOICE EU asked us as members one question: What makes humanitarian action possible?

"If humanitarian access and the safety of humanitarian workers were guaranteed across the country, we could reach more crisis-affected and vulnerable communities with life-saving assistance, including access to clean and safe water, answered Idrissa Hassane Hamidou, Field Coordinator, Niger.

At a time when humanitarian needs across Africa continue to grow, faith-based organisations remain at the forefront of delivering hope, dignity, and compassionate service to communities affected by crisis.

🌟 Our Ugochi Cynthia Abazie, Global Programme Manager, is one of the nominees for the 2026 CHS Alliance Governing Board!

Cynthia is a human rights lawyer and humanitarian practitioner, bringing a rights‑based perspective grounded in field experience, alongside a deep commitment to safeguarding (PSEAH) and accountability to affected populations. At a time when trust in the humanitarian sector is eroding, she sees the CHS as more critical than ever as a credible, inclusive, system‑wide framework to ensure principled humanitarian action.

She aims to amplify the voices of crisis affected communities, advance the Grand Bargain commitments and localization, and help translate standards into practice through stronger partnerships and sector‑wide learning.

“My goal is to support the CHS Alliance 2026 to 2030 strategic cycle by strengthening accountability to affect the population's, driving continuous improvements particularly around CHS due diligence, passporting and promoting a more locally-led and inclusive humanitarian system.”
