🌟 Our Ugochi Cynthia Abazie, Global Programme Manager, is one of the nominees for the 2026 CHS Alliance Governing Board!

Cynthia is a human rights lawyer and humanitarian practitioner, bringing a rights‑based perspective grounded in field experience, alongside a deep commitment to safeguarding (PSEAH) and accountability to affected populations. At a time when trust in the humanitarian sector is eroding, she sees the CHS as more critical than ever as a credible, inclusive, system‑wide framework to ensure principled humanitarian action.

She aims to amplify the voices of crisis affected communities, advance the Grand Bargain commitments and localization, and help translate standards into practice through stronger partnerships and sector‑wide learning.

“My goal is to support the CHS Alliance 2026 to 2030 strategic cycle by strengthening accountability to affect the population's, driving continuous improvements particularly around CHS due diligence, passporting and promoting a more locally-led and inclusive humanitarian system.”

We encourage all CHS Alliance members to support her candidacy and we wish Cynthia best of luck in the election! 👏

Full house at the European Parliament in hashtag !

Today, LM International was at the European Parliament in Strasbourg, as one of the co-organising members of EU-CORD network, together with MEP Hildegard Bentele, hosting the breakfast meeting: “The Missing Piece in Peace: Making the Global Gateway Work for People and Communities.”

Our Head of Global Advocacy, Isabella Caesar Olsson, led the discussion focusing on how the Global Gateway can successfully translate the Sustainable Development Goals into mutually beneficial partnerships that support EU industries, while at the same time ensuring that the voices and realities of those living in fragi le and conflict-affected regions are heard in global policy and investment decisions.

A special thank you to keynote speaker Ephrem Shiferaw for sharing insights from Ethiopia on peacebuilding, investment, and partnerships, with a focus on how the Global Gateway can be implemented in ways that are conflict-sensitive and locally driven.

And thank you to Isabella Lövin and Barry Andrews for your valuable contributions and engagement!

Amalia is a symbol of strength 💚 As a childhood accident took both her arms she was forced to leave school in the second grade, but Amalia carried a quiet debt to herself: to learn to read and write.

Her story is a testament to how education can unlock new possibilities and transform lives, even in the most difficult circumstances.

As she joined the Alfalit Del Paraguay’s literacy program, an initiative we support across Latin America, Amalia began her journey of learning how to read and to write with her mouth while also discovering the power of knowledge as a tool for justice through the Social Audit-method:

“We talk about human rights. We learn to demand them. That gives dignity and security”

Her dream now is to study environmental engineering and teach others how to care for nature - sorting waste with her feet. And to those living with disabilities, she offers a message of empowerment: “Life is beautiful, and we all have great worth. I feel whole, even without arms.”

This month we marked the International Day of Persons with Disabilities (3 December) and Human Rights Day (10 December) and few stories embody these values more than the journey of Amalia.

⚠️ The growing number of acute humanitarian crises worldwide has created significant challenges for the delivery of principled humanitarian assistance. Humanitarian needs continue to escalate, while available resources are increasingly constrained.

📍In South Sudan, malnutrition rates have skyrocketed to an alarming IPC 5 (catastrophic levels) and with severe casualty rates. These indicators have worsened further due to recent funding cuts.

📢 In places like this, humanitarian workers keep showing up day after day. Their words speak more clearly than any report ever could:

“Despite the risk and different challenges in extending life-saving support to the crisis affected population, especially in the difficult regions, I’m still strongly motivated. By the smile of those we serve and by their resilience despite their different adversities”, Says James Mugisha, Country Program Manager, LM International South Sudan

He continues:

"The stories of survival and the hope they carry continue to fuel my motivation. I hope to see improved access, I pray for protection for us, the humanitarian workers, and I pray for financial resources to enable us to reach those who suffer."

These are not isolated stories. They are the everyday reality of those working on the frontlines. From Sudan to South Sudan and beyond, the message is the same - humanity must come first.

💡 We continue to call for stronger protection, safe humanitarian access, and resources that match the scale of people’s needs.

Today marks , a day to bring attention to the realities faced by humanitarian workers and the communities they support.

🌍📍 LM International is present in many of the countries facing severe humanitarian crises and conflict. In Sudan, one of the worst and most neglected humanitarian emergencies, more than two-thirds of the country’s population need humanitarian aid. Famine is growing. Civilians and aid workers are being killed.

📢 In the midst of these horrendous realities, humanitarian workers continue to serve. As part of the campaign we highlight the voices of our staff and what inspires them to keep serving communities on the frontlines of conflict:

“The human connection, the stories of survival each person you support, carries a story that can move the mountain, their courage become you fuel” says Mugtaba Alsafi, Coordinator of Kordufan region, Sudan.

Restoring dignity, reclaim sense of self-worth after trauma and witnessing communities to become agents of their own recovery - this is what keeps us going!

We call on policy makers, parties to conflict, and donor organizations to protect humanitarian workers, ensure safe access, and reverse funding cuts. Without protection and resources, lives cannot be saved.

Ahead of we turn our attention to the realities faced by humanitarian workers and the communities they support.

⚠️The world is facing some of the most severe humanitarian crises in decades with nearly 300 million people in urgent need of assistance and at the same time major donors are drastically cutting their support - Humanitarian aid is undergoing a paradigm shift and it's in shock.

Everyday humanitarian workers risk their lives to support people in need, often in the most dangerous conditions.

🔺Last year was the deadliest on record, over 380 aid workers were killed. This year is already on track to surpass it. While global needs grow funding shrinks, violence escalates and those on the frontlines are left exposed.

🌍 LM International joins the global humanitarian community in calling on leaders and policymakers to .

Respect International Humanitarian Law. Protect those who deliver aid and ensure safe access to people in need.
