Nature Reviews Clinical Oncology: Spinal metastases are associated with debilitating pain and neurological deterioration as well as a poor prognosis and have historically been managed with a palliative intent. Now, following the emergence of stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT), more effective pain control as well as control of the metastatic lesions is becoming feasible.

In this Review, the authors describe the development and role of SBRT in the management of spinal metastases.
