Superhero spaces are an emerging phenomenon. Based on past initiatives like Xerox PARC, Andy Warhol's Factory, the Esalen Institute and Black Mountain College, these spaces are today found around the world in artist's collectives, tech hubs, the maker movement, coworking spaces, social enterprise incubators, living labs and more. Superhero spaces are today at the "edges" of society, usually outside traditional structures such as universities, corporations or government. The expression edge communities is therefore also often used to describe these spaces. We would like to see a world where superhero spaces are effective not only at the edges, but play a major role in societies.
