Operation 1325 vill dela Women for Peace and Developments ordförande Ms Samias inledande tal för kommande 16 dagar mot gender-based violence (GBV) som hon delade med nätverket mot GBV i Sudan, där Operation 1325 ingår som en internationellt stöttande organisation.
"As we begin the 16 Days of Activism in Sudan, I want to take a moment to acknowledge the tremendous commitment, resilience, and perseverance that each of you continues to show in an exceptionally difficult year. The situation across the country has placed enormous strain on women, girls, and the frontline partners who support them—including many within our GBV network. Yet despite reduced access, insecurity, and resource constraints, you continue to stand firmly for protection, dignity, and the right of every woman and girl to live free from violence.
This year’s global theme, marking 30 years since the Beijing Declaration, focuses on ending violence against women and girls—including digital violence. In Sudan, where all spheres of life, physical, social, and digital present risks, our national theme "A safe community begins with a safe woman, From women’s safety, peace is born", speaks powerfully to our collective purpose. It reminds us that protection for women and girls is not secondary; it is the foundation of community well-being, recovery, and peace.
With 12.1 million women and girls at risk of GBV, the need for a strong, coordinated, principled, and inclusive GBV response has never been greater. The work you are doing—keeping Safe Spaces functioning, supporting survivors, strengthening community engagement, and advocating for women’s rights—is not only lifesaving, it is nation-shaping."
