BONNA BAANA EASTER PARTY 2026
Warm greetings to you all. Hope this reports finds you in good health.
The Easter report came a little bit late and we are sorry for that. We always hope to make it better.
Our Preparations began on Monday of the last week to Easter we identified suitable games and notified members about the upcoming program. On Good Friday, several members visited the office to discuss activities for the party. Suggested games included blindfold challenges, the step game, blind football, tug of war (individual and team), and pick-and-drop relay races.
We met on Saturday at 3:00pm to practice the games and help members master them. By 5:00pm, we returned to the office to clean the compound by clearing dry leaves and other debris. Members were briefed on the Easter program and encouraged to keep time to fully enjoy all planned activities.
On Sunday, members arrived at 2:30pm and started with the organizing and arranging the venue. The movie for the day, “Gods of Egypt” was ready on the desktop for screening at the scheduled time.
Members present were divided into two groups to encourage healthy competition. We began with a warm-up session to prepare for the activities.
All games practiced on Saturday were carried out. Games for older members were facilitated by Enock, while games for the younger members were facilitated by Madam Jane. Activities for the young members included _“Mwami wa mbaata”_, running competitions, and chair dance.
Winners were rewarded with sweets and cakes. After the games, members were refreshed with cakes and juice as they prepared for the movie at 5:30pm.
The movie session started as planned. Members gathered in the office to enjoy the 2-hour film. During the screening, members were served popcorn. The session ended at 7:30pm when it threatened to rain and power went off.
In total, over 40 members spent the evening together.
1. Unity: Members spent the evening together as a family, reflecting our motto “WE ARE TOGETHER”.
2. Teamwork Members worked hard for their groups to win, especially in tug of war and pick-and-drop relays.
3. Inclusive Participation Members contributed ideas and suggested games, making them part of the organizing process.
4. All Ages Engaged The program catered to all age groups, with specific games for both young and older members.
5. Power Instability Unstable electricity affected programs dependent on power, particularly the movie session.
6. Time Management Some members arrived late during the movie session and missed the games.
I take this honor to thank BBA management for consistently thinking of us. Programs like this keep us together and promote our safety. I also thank God for protection, and the parents who allowed their children to spend the evening with us.
BBA, WE ARE TOGETHER.

BBA PAWNS SHINE AT WAMPEWO OPEN CHESS CHAMPIONSHIP
Salutations to you all.
By the start of 2026, Chess leaders pledged to do whatever it takes to bring back the chess glory at BBA. The mission started right away from the start of the year. Joakim Genza, Joyce Meme, Rebecca Nakawunde and Raymond kazibwe are the four heads behind this mission. With the help of Mr. Calvin Ntumwa, the team trained in January and February on each and every single weekend. The team played in two tournaments before heading to wampewo. The wampewo tournament was a test to the players who are eyeing Father Grimes schools tournament coming up shortly in late May.
A group of 12 members led by Joakim and Raymond travelled from Kyangato to Kasangati on the 12th of March 2026. By 7:30am the team had started the journey reaching the destination a few minutes past 9am. The tournament started at 9am but the team delayed in traffic thus missing the first round. Despite missing the first round, the team never lost the morale. They bounced back strong and managed to show case their talents. Four members managed to win themselves individual medals from their efforts. Jesca Nanfuma, Jorum Kaaya, Olivia Nanyonjo and Arthur Kazibwe were the four members that went home with medals.
After the seven rounds, below is how the members performed.
1. Jorum Kaaya 4pts. Jorum is one of the seniors in the team and was the best performer of the team on the day. His medal was his first in his history of Chess.
2. Jesca Nanfuma 3pts. Having been with the team for over four years, Jesca has turned out being one of the pillars for BBA chess. She once again had a medal on her name.
3. Rebecca Nantaba 3pts. Rebecca Started playing chess four years back but had her debut in a serious competition two years back. She has impressed in the last three tournament just like this. She had a medal on her name too.
4. Jordan Kaziro 3pts. One of the young and promising stars of BBA chess. Played well but unfortunately missed out on a medal.
5. Annet Nanyange 3pts. Annet has been with BBA for over 7yrs now. One could be surprised to know that Annet just joined the chess team last year. Since her debut in chess, she has impressed and managed to win herself a medal at Wampewo
6. Olivia Nanyonjo 3pts. A little sis to Annet Nanyange, Micha Bazongere and Joan Nambwere, Olivia would like to walk through her elder siblings' path. She has started to impress in chess just like in disc golf and football
7. Justine Nanyombi 3pts. Justine is also a sister to Micha, Olivia, Annet and Joan. She was with the chess team two years back and rested after joining boarding school. This year she comes back and all eyes on her.
8. Arthur Kazibwe 3pts. One of the new recruits of 2026. Arthur becomes the first recruit to win himself a medal in 2026. To be more specific, this was author's second tournament.
9. Elisa Nandekula 2pts. Another 2026 recruit who also had his second tournament at Wampewo. Elisa is also promising
10.Joakim Genza 1.5pts. The pioneer of BBA chess. Having started as a young boy, Joakim is now the coach for the juniors team. He had a poor performance on the day just because his concentration was all on the kids
11. Raymond kazibwe 1.5pts. Just like Joakim, Raymond had a poor performance on the day all attributed to concentration on the kids.
12. Henrietta Mirembe Musoke. Another recruit of the 2026. Henrietta joins the traveling team but didn't get a chance to play. She was with the team to get a feel of tournaments.
The tournament ended by 4pm, followed by the awards ceremony then departure by 5pm. The team reached Kyangato a few minutes past 7pm. The following day, the team gathered at the office to go through the games played the previous day.
Joakim (the coach) says that he sees a great future and believes with the recruitment of more new members, his team can be unbeatable. The team is now eyeing Father Grimes schools tournament in late May. As BBA we wish the Chess team all the best in 2026 and years to follow.

FABULOUS FEBRUARY 2026 AT BBA
I salute you all our beloved members, friends, and followers of BBA.
As promised earlier that we shall be having monthly reports about the given months, we are trying as much as we can to keep you posted. We previously had a post about the activities that transpired in January. If you didn't see this, please visit the previous posts on all our social media platforms. The February wrap came a little late, but we promise to improve.
Just like January, we started February while our members were still in their 3rd term holidays. This meant that the programs were following the earlier plan. We started February with computer training which run for two days 1st and 2nd. The training was led Micheal Mugaga with the help of Katumba. The classes were conducted from 2-5 PM, and the class shifted to chess for one hour , until 6 PM, under the guidance of Katumba. Meanwhile on the other hand, Enock Nsubuga the BBA head of Sports department was at Kyambogo for a two days coaching course for a sport called Khoko. The sport is still new in the country as is soon going to be introduced to BBA.
From the 3rd to the 7th, the members engaged in preparations for the party. The members fetched firewood, water, cleaned the venue, put up the tent as well as practicing different games that were played on the party day. All these were done under the guidance of Enock, Rebecca, and Katumba.
The 8th was the long waited party day. As read in the post about the party that was posted earlier last month, the members engaged in different games and sports, entertainment as well as speeches from the different leaders and the parents. I won't say much about the party, but the general comment is the "the party was massive".
Members rested on the 9th and prepared for school. On the 10th, all schools opened and most of the members reported back to their respective schools.. The reporting back to school, however, didn't stop members to practice disc golf and football. They did this every evening after coming back from the schools. This was done up to the the 13th
The weekend of 14th and 15th was used for Chess training at the office in conjunction with football and disc golf training at the flower garden. These were able to happen simultaneously due to good organization of leaders and good turn up of members.
Just like the first week after reporting to school, the second week was also full of football and disc golf training all done in the evening hours after school. Edward Katumba who is in his S.6 vacation was the man behind the training.
On the 19th, Enock Nsubuga traveled to Kenya for the Kenyan open disc golf tournament. He was there up to the 21st. He was among the four Ugandans who participated in the tournament putting up an outstanding performance.
The weekend of 21st and 22nd wasn't different from the previous one, the chess members at the office and the footballers at the flower garden all had trainings. We had a silent week after that weekend only to be extra active at the end of the month. The last day of the month, 28th, saw disc golfers travel to Ndejje under the guidance of Edward Katumba for the first tournament of the year. These put up an outstanding performance winning the best junior boys and girls categories. They were awarded with two trophies and Four individual medals.
You will all agree with me that February was Fabulous but to those who feel like February didn't match, don't worry April May.

BBA'S JANUARY 2026 WRAP
Hello BBA family, friends and followers. I salute you all in the mighty name of our lord Jesus Christ. I hope you are at the best of your feelings.
Just as it was in the past years, 2020 and 2021, we shall be having a Monthly updates on our social media platforms about the activities that would have transpired in that given month. The January updates have come a little bit late but that will be handled and we promise to give timely updates starting with February.
Having ended 2025 at a high note, some of the activities for 2025 crossed over to 2025 and had to push others a bit later. The football team with over 30 members was in Mityana for the watoto wasoka Christmas camp from December 28th. These were there up to the 4th day of 2026. They managed to draw two and lost the rest of the six games they played. After the games they returned to Kyangato to join the rest of the members in three days chess training by Coach Calvin Ntumwa.
Coach Calvin visited BBA on the 6th and was with the members up to 10th. His major aim was to reform a new chess group at BBA. The turn up for the five days training was marvellous. Over 50 members were present for training. On 11th, Joakim Genza, Joyce Meme and Enock Nsubuga carried on the training as the coach had returned to Kampala for his office duties.
On the 12th, 13th and 14th, the same group engaged in computer studies. Michael Mugaga, a man who has been teaching computer at BBA since January 2025 went and led the three days sessions. The computer lessons lasted for 4hrs each day before the group switched back to Chess. On 15th while the rest of Uganda was casting their votes, BBA member were busy training in football and disc golf after the teams they expect to have football friendlies with failed to make it. The same scenario happened on the 16th as members expected to host a team and it failed to appear. As on the 15th, the members opted for football and disc golf training.
Saturday 17th, Sunday 18th and Monday 19th saw members gather at the office for the chess qualifiers. After a long week of training, Joyce and Joakim decided to arrange qualifiers for the National Juniors tournament that was to happen in days from them. Part of 20th was used to finalise the qualiers while the rest of the day was used to collect firewood that was used at the end of third term holiday party.
On 21 and 22nd, chess team gathered at the office. The qualified members for the national juniors tournament had a session with Joakim with the rest of the members were training with the help of Joyce and Nakawunde.
The 23rd saw the qualified members together with Joyce, JoaKim and Enock travel to Kireka for national Juniors tournament. The team was in Kireka up to 27th while the rest of the members engaged in football and disc golf training under the guidance of Edward Katumba. For more information about what happened at Kireka during the national Juniors tournament, check the previous posts. On the 26th the football team hosted a team from Maggwa and played a friendly match which ended 2:1 in favour of the hosts.
27th to 30th, members gathered at the office for chess training under the guidance of Joyce, Enock, Joakim and Nakawunde. The last the of the month, 31st was used for computer lessons led by Edward Katumba.
In General January was one of the most busiest months of the holiday. It had more of positives than negatives. It had almost all sectors of the association active. It had total members involvement. We hope that the months to come be like January or better.
Keep on checking out social media for more updates about BBA activities.

As part of the culture of the Bonna Baana Association, we always end our holidays with a back to school party. The holiday for third term was also concluded with a Back to School Party which we termed as 2026 start of year party.

In the meeting, members were grouped into four clusters i.e. Uncle Kato (Orange), Auntie Namirembe (Blue), (Uncle Musoke (Black) and Maama Eve (Green). This was aimed at creating the spirit of competition among the members.

Mr. Enock who talked about Discipline, Associations calendar for 2026, achievements among others. He was followed by Katumba who talked about payments for the outings as well as emphasizing discipline. The speeches were wrapped up by Rebeccah Nakawunde who requested parents to bring more members to learn chess as it has a lot of opportunities.
After the speeches,, we got remarks from the parents like Maama Lukenge, Taata Mukiibi and Taata Nakawuka who thanked the association for improving the talents of the children, exposing them to different areas of the country through sports. They also appreciated the computer classes handled at the office, they noted seeing a great improvement among the children. They requested the association to consider taking them for the tour so that they can also learn and visit new places.
The 2026 beginning of year party will always be remembered for great teamwork that was exhibited right away from setting up the tent a day before, preparation of the venue, preparations of the meals among other activities. All these were done out of excitement with big smiles on the members faces.
A big thanks goes to all members for there tremendous work towards improving the standards of the association especially during gatherings like the parties. To everyone who did something to see that the party was a success, we can't thank you enough.

BBA Chess Team At Kireka Open Chess Championship 2025
Joakim Genza - Assist chess Patron
Greetings to you all. Hope you are doing well.
On 28th December 2025, a team of ten BBA chess players traveled to Sports View Hotel in Kireka to take part in the above mentioned championship. The tournament lasted three days which meant that we had to lounge near the playing venue. We got accommodation at Bweyogerere where we were getting our meals as well. By 9am we were at the venue.
The team comprised of Joakim Genza (myself), Joyce Meme, Raymond kazibwe, Rebecca Nakawunde, Sylvia Nakaye, Rebecca Nantaba, Jorum Kaaya, Jordan Kaziro, Jesca Nanfuma, and. Annet Nanyange who were participated into three groups; the juniors, ladies and the open category
The team left Kyangato in the early hours of 28th to Bwaise then reaching Kireka a few minutes past the hour of nine. The games started at 10am and the first round ended at 1pm. We had lunch at the nearby restaurant then headed into the second round of the day a few minutes past 2pm. The games ended at 5pm then the we went to Bweyogerere where we spent our night.
Among our members, six played in junior category, two in open and one in ladies category. At the end of the tournament, below is how our members performed out of the seven rounds played.
1. Rebecca Nakawunde 4pts
2.Joyce Meeme 3 pts
3. Kazibwe Raymond 2.5 pts
4. Jorum kaaya 3pts
5. Jordan Kaziro 2pts
6. Rebecca Nantaba Rebecca 2pts
7. Sylvia Nakaye 2pts
Despite winning just twice in her seven games, Rebecca Nantaba was able to win a bronze medal after coming third in her category U10 girls. Her fellow namesake, Rebecca Nakawunde was the best junior girl in the whole tournament winning herself a golden medal, a sponsored t-shirt as well as a Bluetooth speaker. Jesca Nanfuma was another BBA member on the podium winning silver in her U14W category. The games ended at 5pm of the new year's eve. We couldn't wait for the awards celebration because we had to travel early to reach in time and avoid traffic. The responsibility for receiving the awards was left in Coach Calvin's hands. We can rate our general performance as fair and we need to do more training as well as attending more tournaments to enhance our skills and strength.
As the assistant Patron, I encourage my team mates to team up and do more training so as to level up with the Kampala kids. I also encourage my teammates to abandon the analog way and modernize our game like learning the use of phones and computers to play online.
The lesson from this championship is that our performance needs to be improved. We believe this can be achieved through working together as leaders as well as training new members especially the young ones. Above all I thank the association for the being there for everybody

BBA AT THE WATOTO WASOKA CHRISTMAS CAMP 2025
I greet you all in the name of Jesus Christ. Hope this finds you well and let me take this opportunity to wish you a happy and successful 2026.
2025 has been an eventful year in the association because we have managed to participate in all major competitions in the country. We have also organized events involving neighbouring communities. All members were engaged in the sports activities. With that background we had to compete in the Watoto Wasoka Boys' Christmas Camp which took place at Ganyana Primary School between December 28th 2025 and January 4th 2026. Two teams were presented U11 and U13.On the 28th. Dec. 2025 a troop of 30 players and two leaders set off at 9am arriving in Mityana at 5pm.
Monday.
We woke up at 7am, went for general cleaning, refreshed through bathing and went for breakfast as we waited for the communication about the program to follow.
At 10am, we went for screening of players. All our players in U-11 qualified, while Ronald Asimwe the U13 goalkeeper was removed from the U13 team due his height and body size.
We took lunch at 1pm.
We had two matches that day one for each of our teams. The U-11 played with Wonder Boys where they lost Five nil (5:0). On the other hand, the U13 played with Eleven Bullets and it ended in a goalless draw. Members went and collected water from the tank to wash the jerseys and bathed. We had supper at 8pm.
The rest of our days weren't so much different from Monday, they were all comprised of waking up, cleaning, refreshing, breakfast, games lunch, games, washing jerseys, bathing, supper and again sleeping.
Here is the summary of all the matches we played throughout the tournament:
U-11
BBA 0:5 Wonder Boys
BBA 0:11 Aztecs
BBA 0:4 Kampala Galaxy
BBA 0:9 NASA
U-13
BBA 0:0 Eleven Bullets
BBA 0:4 Bunny Foundation
BBA 0:2 Home Talents
BBA 0:0 White Horse
There was a great improvement in the performance of U-13 team. This was evidenced by the two draws got and a decrease in the number of goals conceded per game as compared to the previous campaigns. It is believed if Asimwe the number one choice goalkeeper was in between the poles, the margin would have be smaller because this would have allowed Ivan Mukisa our creative midfielder who substituted Asimwe in goalkeeping to create more chances for the strikers.
Majority of the players in U-11 were new and it was their first time to participate in the big tournament.
Road work training helped our players not get tired easily while playing like it used to be in the recent years.

There was team work among the players on and off the pitch.
The camp was good for us that it helped in shaping our members into working as a group. During the week we made friends with other teams especially Bunny Foundation and Navigators, Aztecs coaches who spared a moment to talk to our boys. And to many of us this was a chance to explore places we have never been to before.
Apreciation to Edward Katumba who held the team together with the help of Lukenge, Kayingo, Balijje and Bakka.
I thank you all who have made it possible for us to come this far, may God bless you
