CSR and Sustainability Leader 2017
Introduction
The focus on CSR and sustainability is growing both globally and in Greenland. Companies, public organizations and civil society are increasing their work on finding ways to create shared value for society and the organization alike, and to work strategically with developing, implementing, managing and communication CSR and sustainability. Therefor
e, knowledge and skills related to CSR and sustainability becomes all the more critical as part of many different jobs, roles and positions. You might be faced with discussions or decisions relating to CSR and sustainability when you are a Board Member or a member of the wider management group, when you work in operations, Human Resources, sales or communication in a company, as a public servant at all levels or work in a civil society organization reaching out to companies for partnerships. We have offered this course in Greenland before in 2012-2013 with very good feedback. Participants in the previous course were a combination of public servants from different departments and municipalities, NGO leaders and company managers from i.e. procurement, HR, CSR, strategy and communications. Why join CSR & Sustainability Leader 2017? CSR & Sustainability Leader 2017 is a comprehensive and demanding introduction to the field of CSR and sustainability, which allow you to get in-depth and build your skills and understanding. It gives you an academic perspective combined with practical, hands-on tools set in a Greenlandic reality. The course gives you 12 full days of teaching by leading academics and practitioners in the field – all with previous experience from Greenland allowing for a combination of local context and international trends. Participation in the course will allow you to:
• Understand the CSR and Sustainability agenda in-depth from both an academic and practical perspective
• Help you develop your strategic skills and understand your business from a CSR and sustainability perspective.
• Help you and your organization develop and implement a strong CSR & Sustainability strategy focused on creating shared value for society and the company
• Provide you with key tools to develop, implement and manage CSR and sustainability in your organization
• Develop personally as a strong CSR and sustainability leader – ready to take on change management and drive your organization towards greater responsibility
Format and style
The class is taught in an intensive seminar style with active participation and discussion as a key element. Discussions are based on selected key readings, allowing participants to explore and understand central concepts before each session. In addition, we will invite local and international guest speakers to the course to share perspectives and ideas. Throughout the course you have the opportunity to work on your own CSR and sustainability business plan while getting individual feedback from instructors and experts to help you. This provides a unique opportunity for you and your organization to move ahead on the CSR and sustainability agenda. This course is a comprehensive and challenging endeavor, requiring participants to do academic readings in English, write assignments (in English or Danish) and participate actively in ten days of full day seminars. Teaching will be in a mix of Danish and English, dependent on the instructor. Outside of the class room, preparation time is estimated to be approximately 2-3 days per month to keep up with readings and assignments. Assignments vary between essays and practical assignments that can be used directly in your organization.
