Dedicated to preservation, promotion and worldwide distribution of Swedish experimental film and video art, Filmform (est. 1950) is the oldest existing organization of its kind in Sweden and often engages as

an advisor to museums, galleries, universities and festivals. Constantly expanding, the collection spans from 1924 to the present, including works by Sweden’s premier artists and filmmakers as well as a selection from all Nordic countries. Filmform is supported by the Ministry of Culture through the Arts Grants Committee and the Swedish Arts Council. The Filmform collection consists of over 4000 titles - 800 of which are in distribution and available to rent for public screenings and exhibitions as well as for educational purposes.

Gunvor Nelson (1931–2025), den svenska experimentfilmens grand old lady har gått ur tiden. Efter närmare fyrtio år på den amerikanska västkusten återvände Nelson i början av 1990-talet till Sverige. Hon skapade ett trettiotal mycket personliga filmer som rönt uppmärksamhet världen över sedan genombrottet vid mitten av 1960-talet. Cirkeln s***s då Gunvor Nelson somnade in den 6 januari i Kristinehamn där hon växte upp. På Filmform blir det tomt efter nära två decenniers samarbete. En sak är klar, hennes konst och hennes filmer lever vidare. För dem som är nyfikna likt Gunvor själv.

Gunvor Nelson (1931–2025), the grand dame of Swedish experimental film, has passed away. After nearly forty years on the West Coast of the United States, Nelson returned to Sweden in the early 1990s. She created around thirty highly personal films that garnered worldwide attention since her breakthrough in the mid-1960s. Nelson passed away on January 6 in her hometown of Kristinehamn. At Filmform, her absence will be deeply felt after nearly two decades of collaboration. One thing is certain: her art and her films live on for those who are curious, as Gunvor was.
