Founded in 2014 by Karin Victorin and Kalle Westerling. Drag as Art is a project aiming at exploring, producing, and presenting performing arts using drag as an artistic expression. Drag can be anything on the spectrum of light entertainment, serious monologues, or shocking avant-garde. We also aim to analyse, experiment with, and expand the term drag. This is to include contemporary gender-bending like boylesque, female to female drag in neo-burlesque and femme faux. The overall aim is to initiate a discussion about norms surrounding gender identity and sexuality and to inspire others to experiment and expand the limits around those norms. The target group consists of both artists and other cultural practitioners but also the audience that are part of these performances.
