I don’t know how it is where you live, but where I come from, Sunday mornings smell like coffee… and car wax.

Men line up like it's a parade, armed with sponges and pride. It’s a ritual. But lately, I’ve started asking myself, do our routines always make sense? Or is it time to rinse off some old habits?

Navigating the AI Frontier in Tourism: A European Reflection

Artificial intelligence has arrived in our professional lives not with a grand revolution, but quietly—through helpful tools that write emails, translate documents, draft articles, and manage content. In tourism, especially within a diverse and multilingual network like Skal Europe, these tools have already begun to lighten our workload. They save us time, streamline communication, and help us include more people in what we do. At first glance, they seem like the ideal assistants.

But as these tools grow more sophisticated, something deeper is taking place. AI is no longer limited to logistics or formatting. It is now helping us write messages, select images, and even shape how we present our values to others. And so we find ourselves facing a quiet but profound question:
“Are we still the ones guiding the story, or are we letting the tool decide?”

Skal Academy Webinar Recap: Unlocking Opportunities with Erasmus+

On April 8th, 2025, Skal Europe hosted an inspiring and highly informative webinar as part of the Skal Academy series:

“Unlocking Opportunities with Erasmus+: A Toolkit for Skal Clubs and Tourism Professionals”

The session brought together participants from Europe, Africa, and Asia, highlighting the global relevance of the Erasmus+ programme—not only for universities and students but also for tourism operators, associations, NGOs, and regional development agencies seeking to innovate, grow, and connect internationally.

The webinar was designed to demystify Erasmus+ and illustrate how Skal Clubs and their members can proactively engage with the program—whether by initiating or joining projects, offering hospitality training, hosting educational exchanges, or forming strategic partnerships with universities and institutions.

What You’ll Learn from the Webinar Recording:
-What is Erasmus+ and who can benefit from it
-Concrete examples of tourism-related projects already funded by the programme
-The potential for Skal Clubs to partner with universities, local governments, and private stakeholders
-How to access technical support and identify relevant calls for proposals
-Opportunities for youth involvement, digital innovation, sustainability, and intercultural dialogue within the tourism sector

Skal Europe Special Awards 2025

Skal Europe is proud to launch the Special Awards 2025, a unique recognition dedicated to the people who shape the future of our organization from within. These awards celebrate individual Skal Members who have demonstrated exceptional commitment, leadership, and creativity in strengthening Skal’s presence and values in their local communities—and across borders.
Unlike the Sustainability Awards, which focus on innovative tourism projects, the Special Awards highlight the people behind Skal’s revival, expansion, and dynamism. These are the individuals who go above and beyond to make Skal thrive.

Who Can Submit?
Nominations may be submitted by Clubs, National Committees, or the Skal Europe Board.
Only one candidate per country will be accepted. National Committees are encouraged to coordinate with clubs to ensure a transparent and representative selection.
