đŸŒ± OPAD at the 10th NYC Green School Conference

On 23–24 September 2026, educators and leaders gathered in New York City for the 10th NYC Green School Conference, themed “Regenerating Futures: AI, Greening Education for a Thriving Planet.”

We were pleased to see Dr. Lester Sandres Rapalo, OPAD’s Ambassador and Global Advisor on Sustainable Education, listed as a panelist for the session “From Climate Commitment to Coordinated Action: Making Sustainability Stick.”

The discussion focused on how schools, universities, governments, businesses, and civil society can turn climate commitments into lasting practice.

At OPAD, we value education that equips people to take part in building a more sustainable future. Congratulations to Dr. Rapalo and everyone who contributed to the conference.

On 7 July 2026, the Organization for Poverty Alleviation and Development (OPAD) collaborated with The American University USA Inc. (AUGP) and The United Nations University for Global Peace Inc. USA (UNUGP USA) on an international seminar titled Establishing Global Peace for Sustainable Development: The Role of SDG 17 — Partnerships for the Goals.”

The event, held at United Nations Headquarters in New York, included a luncheon in the Delegates Dining Room. OPAD was represented by Dr. Carlos Garcia. As part of the programme, dignitaries were honoured for their contributions as nation builders and peace builders.

OPAD thanks Prof. Dr. Madhu Krishan, our fellow organizers, and all participants for bringing people together around the shared goals of peace and sustainable development.

Children growing up in deprived regions often face gaps in basic resources, educational opportunities and stable care that limit their starting line in life.
