❤️ MEET CISSY — A MOTHER WHO NEVER GIVES UP

Our second beneficiary is Ms. Cissy, a widow and a devoted mother to Jen, a child living with cerebral palsy. 💕

For years, Cissy has navigated the challenges of raising her child with limited resources. She has faced housing difficulties, food insecurity, and the daily struggle of finding something to put on the table. To survive, she has often moved from door to door, seeking casual work such as washing clothes for others.

Yet, through it all, Cissy’s smile has never faded. 😊

When you meet her, one thing that stands out is her beautiful smile. She says it is what keeps her going, even on the hardest days. Behind that smile is a mother whose strength, resilience, and determination continue to carry her family forward.

During our community outreaches, Cissy shared one simple but powerful prayer: to have something of her own to do.

Her dream was to start a small business selling charcoal and fresh food products—an opportunity that would enable her to earn an income, provide for Jen, and build a more secure future for her family.

At BOK, we believe that empowering a mother is an investment in her entire family. Together,We want to walk alongside Cissy as she turns her dream into a reality, restoring not just her livelihood but also hope and dignity.

When we shared Mama Edwin's story, her shop had emptied because of the high medical bills for her son, who lives with spina bifida.

A generous private donor responded, and today her shop is open and stocked again! 🙏💚

Her journey has inspired our new Income Generating Activities (IGA) project for:�🧡 mothers of children with disabilities�💚 mothers with disabilities who also care for children with disabilities

A steady income means medicine, food, school fees and dignity for the whole family.

Today, we come with a heart full of gratitude. ❤️

Our Income Generating Project has officially started, and we are overwhelmed with joy and thanksgiving.

From an empty shop to a fully stocked shop! 🥹❤️

Mummy Edwin starts off again. This is more than just stocking a shop—it is about restoring hope, dignity, independence and an opportunity to provide for her family.

To everyone who made this possible, we cannot thank you enough. Your generosity is helping a mother get back on her feet and reminding her that she is not alone.

This is only the beginning. There are many more mothers and families who need a helping hand.

Meet Edwin’s mother. ❤️

The original video was much longer, but we have edited it to share just this short snippet and give you a glimpse into her story.

As a mother working hard to provide for her child, she needs support to stock and grow her small shop, enabling her to earn a sustainable income and provide for her family.

Supporting mothers to build sustainable livelihoods is one of the initiatives we are taking up. There are so many mothers in our communities who are working hard but need a little support to get back on their feet.

Your gently used clothes, shoes and accessories can bring warmth, dignity and hope to children, women and families in need. 💚

Barn Och Kvinnor Organisation (BOK) is collecting:
✅ Children's clothes and shoes, including school uniforms
✅ Adult clothes, shoes and accessories
✅ Bags, blankets and warm clothing
✅ Seasonal items like jackets and sweaters
