Today October 31, the United Nations (UN) has declared as the World Cities Day. Its aim is to create awareness of the role of urbanization in global sustainable development and social inclusion.

Together with ICLD - Swedish International Centre for Local Democracy SKL International is working throught the programme SymbioCity for a more inclusive urban development.

The main objective of the programme is to strengthened capacity of local governments to plan, develop and manage urban areas sustainably and inclusively by using the SymbioCity approach. The programme seeks to enhance the capacity of individuals as well as organizations. It aims to provide inspiration, approaches and tools which are effective and useful in the local context and which will ultimately lead to improved health, safety, comfort and quality of life for people living in urban areas.

I rollen som projektledare rapporterar du till en av våra programchefer och ingår i vår programfunktion som består av ett tjugotal medarbetare. Som projektledare ansvarar du för genomförandet av ett eller flera projekt och medverkar i det interna utvecklingsarbetet och projektutvecklingsarbetet på verksamhetsövergripande nivå.

Vi är just nu i behov av att förstärka våra projekt på västra Balkan med en projektledare och en ytterligare projektledare för att stötta i pågående och kommande projekt i MENA- regionen och Afrika söder om Sahara, men det kan också innebära uppdrag i andra insatser där det finns behov av att förstärka med ytterligare resurser samt i framtagande av nya projektansökningar.

The ongoing pandemic is global but something that we have learnt is that crises is best met at the local level. The world beyond the Corona pandemic needs stronger local institutions and strengthened local democracy. We encourage Sida, the Swedish MFA, the Swedish Government and the EU to make use of the opportunities available to strengthen the local level when the development corporation following the pandemic is drawn up. إطلاق تطبيق "سلامتي" للرصد الأولي والسريع لحالات المصابة والعرضة للإصابة بفيروس كورونا المستجد على المستوى المحلي، واتحاد بلديات جرد القيطع في عكار سيكون السبّاق في تجربته.

يسرّ تجمع السلطات المحلية السويدية في لبنان SKL International تحت مشروع ريسلوغ إطلاق النموذج التجريبي لتطبيق "سلامتي" الذي جرى يوم الإثنين ٢٣ اذار ٢٠٢٠ بالشراكة مع مركز نظم المعلومات الجغرافية (GIS) في كلية الهندسة في جامعة البلمند وذلك بتمويل من جامعة البلمند ودولة السويد لرصد الحالات المصابة بفيروس #كورونا على المستوى المحلي.

يستند هذا التطبيق على البيانات التي سيتم جمعها في إتحاد بلديات جرد القيطع - عكار - لبنان من قبل ممرضات وأطباء متطوعين في مدربين على استعمال التطبيق. كماسيتم تحليل هذه المعلومات جغرافياً من قبل مهندسين خبراء بنظم المعلومات الجغرافية نظرا للتعاون الدائم بين شريكتنا جامعة البلمند ونقابة المهندسين في طرابلس والشمال.

يهدف هذا العمل الى المساهمة في احتواء انتشار الوباء وتعزيز استعداد السلطات المحلية وتحسين قدرتها للاستجابة الى الأزمات.

يندرج إطلاق هذا البرنامج التجريبي ضمن إطار "الرقمنة" الذي تقوم به SKL International مع اتحادي جرد القيطع ودريب الأوساط في إطار مشروع ريسلوغ، الذي يهدف إلى تعزيز الحكم المحلي والمواطنة الفاعلة في #عكار- لبنان، من خلال تعزيز الأنظمة المحلية وقدرات البلدية البشرية واشراك المواطنين والسكان في القرارات المحلية.

Salamati, a GIS-based application helping local authorities to enable rapid initial screening of potential cases and the identification of areas and people at high risk, is launched for testing with the Union of Jurd Al-Qayta in Akkar.

The Swedish Association for Local Authorities and Regions in Lebanon SKR - Sveriges Kommuner och Regioner (SKL International) under Reslog Lebanon is pleased to launch the pilot of Salamati Application, on Monday 23 March 2020, in partnership with the Center for Geographic Information Systems (GIS) at the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Balamand - UOB, and with the financial support of the University of Balamand and Sweden.

This application is based on data collected by volunteer trained nurses and doctors and information will be visualized by trained and experienced GIS engineers given the cooperation between Balamand University and the orders of Engineers in Tripoli and the North.

The objective of this initiative is to help contain the spread of the epidemic, enhance the preparedness of local authorities and increase their ability to manage crises.

The launch of this pilot falls under the digitalization component that SKL International is undertaking with the Union of Jurd Al-Qayta and Dreib Al Awssat under RESLOG Project, which aims at promoting Resilience and active citizenship in Akkar, Lebanon through fostering local systems, municipal capacities and engaging communities in municipal decisions.
