KIC deltog med glädje i Political Parties Peer Network Conference i Warszawa, Polen, där diskussionerna fokuserade på att stärka systemen för finansiering av politiska partier samt främja ett meningsfullt ungdomsdeltagande i politiken. Konferensen utgjorde en värdefull plattform för att utbyta erfarenheter, bygga partnerskap och utforska innovativa arbetssätt för mer inkluderande och ansvarsfulla politiska institutioner.

Vi är glada över att officiellt välkomna 2026 års årskull till PYPA-programmet!

Årets årskull består av 43 unga ledare från 20 politiska partier i Kenya, Uganda och Tanzania, som nu samlas inom ramen för PYPA-programmet..

Den första sessionen äger rum nu i Jinja och är en intensiv tvåveckorsperiod med fokus på lärande, ledarskapsutveckling och regionalt samarbete.

Deltagarna medverkar i dynamiska workshops och tankeväckande diskussioner som omfattar:
• Jämställdhet i politiken
• Målsättning och personligt ledarskap
• Konflikthantering
• Mänskliga rättigheter
• God samhällsstyrning och politisk ekonomi
• Ideologi och valcykeln
…och mycket mer

Denna första session markerar början på en omvälvande resa som syftar till att stärka nästa generation av politiska ledare i Östafrika.

A major milestone for democratic governance and regional collaboration in Africa was achieved this weekend.

From 27–29 April 2026 in Nairobi, the Offices responsible for Political Party Regulation in
Kenya, Malawi, and Sierra Leone convened for the inaugural formal conference of the proposed African Association of Political Party Regulatory Authorities (AAPPRA).

The conference culminated in the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) by the participating Registrars, establishing a framework for continued cooperation, peer learning, and institutional collaboration aimed at strengthening political party regulation across Africa.

Held under the theme “Towards Inclusive and Accountable Political Party Systems: Strengthening Regulation and Regional Collaboration in Africa,” the engagement focused on:
• Political party governance and accountability
• Political finance oversight
• Digitalization of regulatory processes
• Inclusion of special interest groups
• Conflict management and institutional strengthening

KIC has led this project from its inception
facilitating dialogue, technical exchange, and regional cooperation among political party regulatory institutions across the three countries .

The initiative is implemented with funding from the European Union through ENoP

We commend the leadership of the participating Registrars, ORPPKenya technical teams, and partners whose collaboration and commitment made this milestone possible.

As part of the global celebration of Women’s Month Kristdemokratiskt Internaionellt Center is proud to honor the vital contributions of women who are shaping political systems, strengthening democratic processes, and advancing inclusive governance across communities and countries.

For decades, KIC has worked to expand women’s political participation, support aspiring and elected women leaders, and dismantle the systemic barriers that continue to limit women’s access to decision‑making positions. Despite progress, women worldwide remain underrepresented in public office and continue to face persistent barriers, including structural discrimination such as unequal access to political networks and resources.

For years, KIC’offices have been located in a building whose exterior wall bears a commemorative plaque honoring Ada Nilsson, who together with Julia Kinberg founded the feminist organisation Frisinnade Kvinnor in 1914 and later the magazine Tidevarvet in 1923.

Isn’t it symbolic? Each day, we are reminded of the pioneers who laid the foundations for gender equality and democratic participation. As we move forward, we honour their legacy not only by remembering their contributions, but by actively advancing it -supporting women’s political participation, promoting women’s leadership, and strengthening the work needed to ensure equal opportunities for all.

KIC i Bryssel 🇪🇺

Cayetana Muriel och Annika Reyes Rigö deltog i veckan i KD-akademins Brysselresa med fokus på kompetensutveckling och nätverkande. Programmet innehöll, bland annat, besök i Europaparlamentet, föreläsning av Alf Svensson om KD:s roll i den globala rörelsen och möte med Martens Centre om kristdemokratisk ideologi i praktiken.

Med oss hem tar vi nya kontakter och inspiration till vårt arbete med partners.

Under temat ”Främja ungdomar och kvinnor i politiska partier” samlades unga politiker från Östeuropa under några dagar i Stockholm för en akademi som KIC genomför i samarbete med Robert Schuman Institute.

Under dagarna fick deltagarna både presentera påverkanskampanjer som de arbetat med under året och fördjupa sina färdigheter i debatteknik och effektiv kommunikation.

Vi vill rikta ett varmt tack till alla som engagerade sig i utbildningen. Särskilt tack till Nike Örbrink och Lili André för fina besök i både stadshuset och riksdagshuset.

Att stötta unga talanger är en viktig del i ett långsiktigt demokratiskt arbete. Vi önskar alla våra deltagare varmt lycka till i deras framtida gärningar!

📍 Freetown, Sierra Leone

We were honored to convene a landmark regional workshop alongside the Political Parties Regulation Commission (PPRC – Sierra Leone) and the Offices of the Registrar of Political Partied ORPPKenya & Malawi under the WYDE–Political Parties Project, supported by the European Union through ENoP

Over two days, we gathered regulators, researchers, and partners to:
✨ Validate comparative findings on political party regulation
✨ Share national experiences on strengthening women’s and youth inclusion
✨ Deepen collaboration among institutions across Africa
✨ Advance the roadmap toward establishing the Africa Association of Political Party Regulatory Authorities (AAPPRA)

From rich country presentations to productive discussions on regional harmonization and best practices, this workshop marked a major step toward more inclusive, transparent, and accountable political party systems on the continent.

A warm thank you to PPRC Sierra Leone for hosting us in Freetown and to all partners KIC, ENoP, ORPP Kenya, ORPP Malawi, researchers, and stakeholders for their commitment to this shared vision.

Together, we are building stronger democratic systems that empower women and youth across the three African countries.
