We'll join this next week!

Join us in Stockholm for a discussion (in Swedish) to mark the release of Darwins demoner — the newly published Swedish edition of Kristian Rönn’s book Darwinian Trap. The conversation will explore how short-term incentives contribute to global risks — from the climate crisis to AI — and what can be done to change course. Featuring Kristian Rönn (Founder of Normative, ex-FHI) and Vilhelm Skoglund (Astralis Foundation), moderated by Christer Sturmark.

🗓️ May 13, 17:00–18:30 at Soho House Stockholm.

Free entry, but registration required by May 12. Limited amount of spots.

Do you want to learn about alternative proteins? Join us for a 5-week course from the Good Food Institute exploring the science behind alternative proteins!

You’ll learn about the biological and chemical processes used to produce plant-based, fermentation-derived, and cultivated meat, as well as the environmental and economic drivers behind these market sectors.

When: Starting in week 15, there will be five weekly evening meetings. The weekday and time will be decided by participants.

Where: KTH campus

Learn more about the course and register here by April 5:

Hi! Thank you for your interest in taking the GFI Alternative proteins course (https://gfi.org/resource/plant-based-and-cultivated-meat-online-course/) together! Hey everyone! We are happy to announce that together with the local AI safety group SCAIS we will hold a discussion group about cooperative AI this April!

Cooperative AI is an emerging research field focused on improving the cooperative intelligence of advanced AI for the benefit of all. This includes both addressing risks of advanced AI related to multi-agent interactions and realizing the potential of advanced AI to enhance human cooperation.

We will be reading the curriculum by the Cooperative AI Foundation (https://www.cooperativeai.com/) together. It consists of 8 weeks but we will probably skip the first three weeks because they cover background knowledge and leave that to participants to read up on beforehand. Having a bit of background knowledge in AI Safety / Game Theory / Machine Learning will be beneficial but if you are very curious about it without knowing too much about it (yet), don't hesitate to register! We will try to accommodate people with different levels of background 🙂

The reading materials require around ~2 hours per week and we aim to have discussion sessions of about 75 minutes either in the evening or during lunch, depending on your preferences!

Hey! Next week, we will go to a talk organised by KTH Longevity about measuring aging.

Time: 17:30 Tuesday February 18
Place: KTH Innovation, Teknikringen 1
Make sure to register for the event if you're going! https://lu.ma/gdpyp1e2?tk=rCi0ak

Here's the description from the organisers:
"What does it really mean to age? Is your chronological age – the one in your passport – the same as your biological age? And can we already predict who is at the highest risk of developing dementia? :older_woman::older_man:

We’re excited to welcome KTH Alumni Karolina Gustavsson, a PhD student at Karolinska Institutet, who is at the forefront of research in aging, epidemiology, and dementia. She will break down how researchers measure biological aging, explore cutting-edge methods like omics technologies, and - if we are lucky - share some early results from her own research. :test_tube:

This isn’t just a lecture – it will be a thought-provoking experience! After Karolina’s talk, we have a surprise for you, where you’ll have the chance to challenge your own thoughts about eternal life."

💡 Curious but don’t know much about longevity or research? No problem! This event is for everyone – no prior knowledge required, just an open mind. 🔬 Join…
