Official Facebook channel for the Archives For the Unexplained (AFU) Foundation in Norrköping, Sweden AFU was originally founded in Södertälje, Sweden in 1973.

Archives for the unexplained (AFU) preserves a rich world-wide heritage of paper archives, book libraries, recordings, e-files, objects and other materials related to all kinds of unexplained phenomena. Our aim is to continuously develop an independent archive foundation for research by generations to come. The core of our collections has come, and keep coming, from ‘ufologists’ – people who are specialized in the study of unidentified flying objects (UFOs). Previously, AFU stood for "Archives for UFO research", but in April 2013 we took on the new name "Archives for the unexplained". The book library started in 1974 and in 1979 AFU moved to the city of Norrköping. Since 1980 AFU is a self-owning, non-profit foundation under Swedish law. AFU celebrated our 50th anniversary in 2023.

BUSY WEEK WITH SEVERAL VISITS

At AFU, we regularly entertain visitors to our premises. Starting today (Saturday January 17), we have a busy week with 4 different groups of visitors.

Today, 6 friends sharing an interest in space and astronomy came to AFU for a small tour of our premises. Anders Liljegren and Thomas Michanek gave a presentation of AFU and showed them parts of our archives and libraries. After a lunch break, they bought some books and paraphernalia from our shop, and left as happy campers. They showed their gratitude by signing our guestbook (see photo, text in Swedish).

Tomorrow, AFU's chairman Clas Svahn comes to AFU together with several visitors: relatives to the astronomers Lars Olof and Kerstin Lodén, whose archive we have acquired, as well as two persons from Linköping University, lecturers in religious studies.

On Wednesday January 21 we will have a guided tour for a group of former/senior journalists in the county of Östergötland.

Finally, on Saturday January 24 we are visited by the documentary filmmaker Brad Abrahams and the Swedish author Johan Theorin and a few colleagues.

If you want to visit AFU, make sure to contact us and book a suitable day, so that we can prepare your visit and make sure we have people present that you would like to meet.
