🌿 Dream Green – Come Together at Ängsbacka 🌿
Part of the Community Café project — co‑funded by the European Commission 🇪🇺

On June 7th, the Swedish ecovillage of Ängsbacka opened its doors for Dream Green – Come Together, a youth‑led gathering that brought locals from around the area and community members together for a day of connection and creativity. The programme included a mindful forest walk, guided body awareness practices and opportunities to connect with the community through a guided tour and shared meal. The day also included a clothes swap and open conversations about sustainable and alternative ways of living. 🌱

This event was created by young participants of February’s international mobility at .desert.technology , as part of the Community Café Project. We’re so proud of Cornelia, Yasmin, Emelie and Veronica for stepping into organizer and facilitator roles and co‑creating such a beautiful day of learning and inspiration 💚

From trash to creativity: CaminArte Local Activity in Sunseed 🤸✨

As a follow-up to Storytelling for Change, an international mobility that took place last February at .desert.technology as part of the Community Café project, young participants were invited to take action in their local communities.

One of the results? CaminArte! The idea was simple and powerful: organise a day to clean up the semi-desert ecosystem around Sunseed, and turn the collected waste into creative pieces to be used or displayed in the space—closing the loop. ♻️🎨

After weeks of planning and community involvement, CaminArte came to life on April 19th! 🎉 With support from Sunseed, the young organisers invited 25 people from the local and surrounding community to join the event. Together, they walked along three different routes, collecting bottles, cans, glass, and plastic of all shapes and sizes.

Back at the main house, they gathered the bags, shared a delicious vegan lunch, and created space for exchange and connection. In the afternoon, they crafted tools, accessories and decorations from the collected materials—giving the materials that were collected a second life.
It was a beautiful and successful event full of exploration, learning, and community spirit 🌿💬💡

Erika, one of the Storytelling for Change participants and core organisers of the Caminarte, wrote an article on the event sharing her perspective—read it now on Sunseed’s website: sunseed.org.uk under News!🌍✨

Meet Baldesca 🌼

She was the main facilitator of the Storytelling for Change activity that happened in February at .desert.technology ! 💚

A little on Baldesca's story...

Baldesca holds two master's degrees in industrial engineering and energy systems.
Over the past 6 years, she’s combined her project management skills, entrepreneurship knowledge and international cooperation experience to make an impact in education, personal development, and wellness. 🌱

She lived and worked at (a Community Café partner!) taking on various festival management roles, managing Erasmus+ projects, and facilitating workshops and circles.

Currently, she’s part of an emerging ecovillage in Spain and collaborates with different sustainability networks. She's also a mentor, a network of young people and youth workers whose aim is to bring together young people in ecovillages and sustainable projects in Europe. 🌍🌿

🌿 Storytelling for Change: Connecting, Inspiring, Taking Action

From February 19-23, 20 young people came together at Sunseed Desert Technology Community for Storytelling for Change - a Youth Participation Activity co-funded by Erasmus+. It was a week of deep conversations, creative expression, and hands-on experiences that reminded us of a simple truth: stories shape the world we live in.

We began by immersing ourselves in the principles of sustainable living, experiencing first hand Sunseed’s eco-friendly practices. Participants took part in a collaborative session on making homemade preserves, explored the concept of ecovillages, and delved into the Four Dimensions of Sustainability. These hands-on experiences allowed them to gain a deeper understanding of what it means to live in harmony with nature.

Midway through, we shifted our focus to storytelling. After a quiet walk in nature, we asked ourselves: How can stories create change? Through drawing, self-enquiry, deep listening, and even creating masks that represented our inner activists, we discovered that storytelling is more than words - it’s about connection, authenticity, courage, and sharing what truly matters.

One powerful moment came during our World Café session in the garden, where participants explored questions about building strong communities, bringing sustainability into cities, and facing the challenges of being an eco-activist.

Overall, participants had the chance to immerse themselves in the wisdom of Sunseed, build meaningful connections, explore their own power and awaken their inner activists. This transformative journey of self-discovery and openness was the perfect foundation for what came next: turning those insights into tangible change.
As the week came to an end, reflection turned into action. Each participant started designing a local action project, finding ways to bring what they had learned back to their communities. It was clear: this wasn’t just a week-long experience. It was the start of something bigger - a ripple effect of inspiration, action, and change.

A huge thank you to all our partners (Sunseed Desert Technology, SerVivo, Ängsbacka & Catfarm) and participants who made this experience so special. Your passion reminds us why we do this work - to keep sharing stories that inspire and empower others to take action. 💚

And this is just the beginning! Stay tuned to see these projects come to life and join us for more creative adventures with Community Café! 🌍✨
