Regionen Skåne subcommittee on traffic voted on 1 October to prohibit bikes on Skåne trains during the time when most travel to school or work by bike (06-08 & 15:30-17:30). Critical Mass samlas lördag den 24 okt. kl. 11:30 vid Clemenstorget. Region Skåne röstade att förbjuda cyklar på Skånetrafikens tåg på rusningstider. Välkommen att cykla med skyltar som “fler cykelplatser på tågen”. Beslutet träder i kraft den 1 november. Region Skåne:
-sätter resenärer mot varandra
-befrämjar inte cyklingen med anknytning till kollektivtrafik
-respekterar inte beslut Lunds kommun har tagit, som uppmuntrar till cykling till jobbet, skolor, fritidsaktiviteter, osv.
-uppmuntrar egentligen cyklister under tidspress att åka bil
-tar inte hänsyn till långsiktiga besparingar, till folkets hälsan, eller till klimathotet

Critical Mass will gather Sat., 24 Oct., at 11:30 at Clemenstorget in Lund. Region Skåne voted to prohibit bikes on certain trains during rush hour. The decision is effective 1 November. Welcome to bike that day with signs like “more bikespots on trains”. The decision:
pits commuters against each other
-does not encourage interlinking biking and commuting
-does not respect the efforts of Lund to encourage biking to work or school, etc.
-actually encourage cyclists pressed for time to take the car
-considers not the long time savings, peoples health, and climate threat.

Bike Power/Cykelkraft.

On Monday and Tuesday 24 and 25 August a major symposium on biking is planned here in Lund. Everything is in English: Pedalling Power: Cycling, Politics and Possibilities, Cycling & Society Symposium 2026 at Lund University, Lund (Sweden). On Saturday 29 Augusti Cykelkraft will share a table with others at the Celebration for Peace and Climate ”Folkfest för fred & klimat” in the city park or Stadsparken in Lund. Much of the research around cycling is concerned with incremental improvements to cycling. However, the car-centric system remains untouched. This is illustrated with examples. Obstacles for transitional research are discussed.
