From Idea to Reality – Part 1

A Two-Part Series on Innovation in the Water Sector

How is digital technology reshaping the water sector — and are we experiencing a true paradigm shift?

Small tech companies often struggle to reach larger players, and established organizations face increasing pressure to integrate new digital solutions safely and efficiently. Today, everything is connected through IT, data, sensors, and security — but moving from concept to full-scale operation is still a major challenge.

In this two-part series of WIN Water Meetings, we explore the processes, testing environments, and regulatory frameworks needed to scale innovation. By bringing together perspectives from both innovators and major industry actors, we investigate what it truly takes for solutions to move from pilot to real implementation.

In Part 1, we identify and dive deeper into the most critical challenges on the journey from idea to operation.
