Lund Formula Student http://www.lundformulastudent.se This is the official page of the Lund Formula Student team.

Every year, students from Lund University build a race car to compete in the world's largest engineering competition, Formula Student, a competition that challenges every team to plan, design, analyze and manufacture a formula racing car. Every summer the car is put up to the test in one of the many Formula Student competitions. The purpose of the project is to give engineers further working exper

ience by following through the entire production chain, from concept phase to finished product. Every new team has to work together to design and manufacture an as good car as possible. This features coming up with smart, sustainable solutions for the car design, manufacturing in an actual workshop and finally testing and adjusting the car. Parallel to the car manufacturing, the team prepares for the static events of the competition such as the business case. Lund Formula Student is a cooperation association within (the academic society).

Behind every LFS car is a team making sure that great engineering is also practical, efficient and financially sustainable.

Our Cost & Manufacturing team is responsible for analysing production methods, calculating manufacturing costs and evaluating how the car can be produced in the most effective way possible. Their work is a key part of the competition and helps bridge the gap between design and reality.

By combining technical understanding with strategy and economics, they ensure that our concepts are not only high-performing, but also realistic to manufacture.

We are proud to highlight our continued collaboration with Aknes Mekaniska AB, a valued sponsor of LFS since 2022.

For this season, Aknes Mekaniska AB has manufactured our new uprights using high-precision CNC machining. Uprights are essential suspension components that connect the wheel hub, brakes, and suspension arms, enabling controlled wheel rotation, steering, and vertical movement while maintaining structural rigidity and precision.

Their expertise, quality, and continued support play an important role in the development of our car, and we are grateful to have them as part of our journey. We look forward to strengthening our collaboration further in the coming seasons.

While most of our team is active throughout the entire year, some subteams make their debut in the spring when the manufacturing phase starts up 🔧

Our workshop team is in charge of assembling crucial parts of the car, such as the suspension, steering and various other metal components. Without them the design would remain just a digital concept, so although their participation in the team is more short-lived than others, it is just as important.
