🩷 PINK GOODBYES & ENDLESS MOVEMENT ✨

This week’s highlights kicked off sweet—and we mean PINK-sugar sweet! 🍬 Because nothing sweetens the heart like celebrating a farewell that’s actually a hello to something magical…

Eda is taking a little break from us for a few months, and you KNOW we’re emotional—but the reason?! She’s off to welcome a baby girl into the world! 👶🏼🎀 Huge congrats to the new mum, and also to daddy Kristi—we’re already obsessed with your little one and we haven’t even met her yet!

But we didn’t just cry into our juice 🍹😭. We danced and we played pantomime like absolute pros (oscar-worthy performances, tbh). You two will be SO missed, but we’ll be right here waiting… counting down the days until you come back as a party of 3! 💕

And of course, the week came with serious motion—because when Olga takes the wheel of the Social Hub boat, you know things are about to move! 🚤 Her last Thursday Fit & Healthy session was absolutely brilliant (heads up—we're shifting to Sundays starting September 13th, so save the date!).

But Olga didn't stop there—she also captained our Local Discoveries adventure at Unos Runda in the Häckeberga Nature Conservation Area, and we've never heard that forest echo with so many laughs! 🌳😎 We soaked up everything from sandy shores to deep, fairytale woods that bring total peace while leaving just a whisper of mystery. 🔮 And because our fitness coach never takes a day off, we stumbled upon an outdoor gym and got in a solid pump session 💪—because staying strong means we're ready for every hike ahead!

September is Open House month, and you are our guest of honour. Come find us, and we'll give you the warmest welcome home you could ever wish for. 🤗

In September, when we’re just too excited to do lots of activities together again and want to invite more people to join us, what do we do? We OPEN HOUSE! 🔑🔥

This month, we’re opening our doors even wider. 🙌 No membership, no commitment—just open arms for anyone who wants to step in and discover everything that makes us smile and gives us that incredible "home" feeling. 🤗

Language Cafés ☕, nature excursions 🌲, Latin dance 💃, yoga 🧘, fitness 💪, book club 📚, smart-thinking workshops 🧠, career & job-search related activities 🎯, meetups 🥳… our whole world is open for anyone who wants to explore it. 🌎🫵

Who says the colder months in Lund can’t be wonderful? 🍁

Autumn in Lund has its own rhythm: rainy mornings, golden leaves and darker afternoons. And, if you know where to look, it also comes with coffee, cookies, good conversation and a chance to give your language skills some attention. Every Wednesday, our Language Café at Stadshallen offers exactly that. ☕

Maybe you’re new to Sweden and still figuring out how to survive the cold. Maybe you’ve lived here for years but never quite mastered ordering a cinnamon bun in Swedish. Or perhaps you simply need more chances to use the languages you already know. Whatever brings you here, this is the right place to practise, exchange and connect. ❤️

You can expect:
💬 Easy-going talks – no pressure, just a space to chat, learn new words and laugh.
🌍 An international community – meeting new people comes naturally around the table.
🫶 Support when you need it – tailored learning material and encouragement from native speakers.

🇸🇪 Swedish – all levels welcome
🇬🇧 English..or request another language, and we'll do our best to set up a tandem or small group! We've already run successful native-speaker exchanges pairing Swedish with French, Spanish, and German – and right now, we have a lively Swedish-Ukrainian exchange in full swing!

Here's a bonus: September is our Open House month so give it a try and, if you want, bring your friends along! 🙌 From October onward, the Language Café will be for members of Social Hub / Interkultur i Lund only – but joining the family is simple. Just fill in a form, Swish 100 kr community contribution to help keep things running, and you'll have access to this and all our other activities until December 2027.

Wed. 7 – One final Dominican Bachata!
Wed. 14 – We shift our full focus to Cuban Salsa. This is where we start our Basic Course, running every week right up until the Christmas holidays.

From this date onward, we are a dedicated Salsa family. 🤗 Beginners must commit to the full course to build a solid foundation, while returning dancers are welcome to refine their basics and sharpen their technique! 💪 In January, we level up to an Intermediate course and drop‑ins are only allowed for experienced dancers who already know their way around the floor.

We are not a dance school, we are a community. We don't aim to turn you into a performer; we aim to turn you into a friend!

We're heading to Unos Runda in Häckeberga – a peaceful 7 km loop through enchanting woodlands, past shimmering lakes, and along some of Skåne's most beloved trails. Named after local hiking legend Uno Jönsson, this route serves up the perfect mix of forest magic, bird songs, and hidden viewpoints around every turn. 🍃📸

The first yellow leaves are already showing up… Schools are back in session.
Some of us have been working hard for a while now, and some never stopped — not even through the summer heat….

By this point in the year, we've all got our reasons to want to escape to a tropical island… or maybe we always do. ✈️

But what if we told you that you could find that island warmth without spending a fortune?

When was the last time you sat around a fire and talked about something that really matters?

That’s the idea behind Campfire Conversations — a monthly gathering around an artificial (but still heartwarming!) campfire. 🔥🪵

We slow down, listen, share stories, and connect with ourselves and the people around us. Each session has a different theme, offering a starting point for conversations that go a little deeper than the usual small talk.

This time, we’ll explore Values. 🧭

Especially at this time of year, many of us are making plans, starting new routines, or navigating changes. We often talk about what we’re doing, where we’re going, and what comes next. But what about the things underneath all of that?

What guides your choices?
What gives your life meaning?
What do you want to make more space for? 💛

Maybe it’s freedom, friendship, family, curiosity, stability, adventure, kindness, creativity, community — or something completely different.

We’ll use value cards and simple prompts to explore the ideas and qualities that feel important to us, and the stories and experiences connected to them. Choose the cards that resonate with you, and then share the thoughts, experiences, and little stories behind them.

There are no right or wrong answers, and no pressure to speak. You can share, listen, reflect, or simply enjoy being part of the circle. 🫶

🌍 When Lund Became the World – For One Weekend 🌍

Last weekend, Mårtenstorget transformed into a wonderful tapestry of colors, sounds, perfumes, and stories — as Interkultur Torgfestival took over the city centre ✨🎶

Bigger square this year. Bigger energy. Bigger joy.
Delicious food, captivating performances, live music, and beautiful crafts filled every corner — a celebration for all the senses 🎊🍛💃

Social Hub was one of the seven Interkultur i Lund sections involved, contributing 13 countries and cultural stations, each with something special to share:
From India’s intriguing accessories, Nigeria’s colorful fabrics, Colombia’s indigenous treasures, and Albania’s iconic hats to Uzbekistan’s inviting table, Slovenia’s captivating stories, and last but not least, Mexico’s impressive dancing finale 💍🪶📖

There was plenty to experience too: Sharing a meal with Malaysia, tasting Peru’s culinary creations, sampling Mexico’s delicious pastries, enjoying Vietnam’s specialty coffee, taking on China’s spicy challenge, experiencing a vegan version of Greece’s gastronomic delights, and getting into Spain’s playful cultural flair 🥐🌶️💃

But more than anything, it was the people who made the weekend special — creating a genuine sense of community and curiosity that brought us all together 🌈🌱

A cultural celebration made possible by the passionate efforts of many members and organizations. A heartfelt thank you to all of them and to Visit Lund that, through the Heja Lund initiative, helped to make it such a success 👏💓

Until next year, Lund — your vibrant diversity continues to tell stories that reach far beyond the city streets 💫
