Cross Cultures Project Association
Cross Cultures was founded in 1999 to run the Open Fun Football School programme in Bosnia Herzegovina as a peace-building intervention. The Open Fun Football Schools programme was however considered so succesfull that we were asked from our bilateral donor organisations to expand the programme to neighbouring countries. Today the Open Fun Football School progra

mme has developed into into regional platforms in the Balkans, Transcaucasus, Moldova and the Middel East (see below). With outset in our specific approach to local communities Cross Cultures we have launched a Street Sport & Community Clubs programme in Lebanon (2007). In 2009 we have further launched the educational climate change project, Things Talk for children from 10-12 years old. Things Talk is organised in partnership with Heerup Museum, the municipalities of Ballerup and Rødovre and Vestforbrændingen, a waste plant in Denmark, and it provides a global platform where children can get a chance to speak about their ideas, concerns and future dreams in relation to how climate changes will affect the world they live in both locally and globally. The strengh of Cross Cultures and our programmes is found to be its abilities to generate relations between people and stakeholders. Alone in the Open Fun Football School 2009 Cross
Cultures is comunicating directly with more than 100,000 children, volunteers, parents, municipal authorities, national institutions and other stakeholders. Today Cross Cultures are considered among the world leading organisations specialised in using children's grassroots football as a tool to stimulate peaceful co-existence, gender equality, tolerance and social cohesion between people living in divided communities. Amongst others Cross cultures have received nomerous of prestigious international and national prizes/awards for the Open Fun Football School programme. (Awards click here)
