Over the last two years, Helsingborg International Connections and Helsingborg International Rotary Club have built a meaningful collaboration around a shared ambition: creating stronger connections between the international community and the Helsingborg region. 🌍

As part of this collaboration, HIC played a small role in helping facilitate a pilot mentorship programme for international master’s students at Lund University Campus Helsingborg, launched by the club last September. Through regular meetings, conversations, and shared activities, mentors and mentees have had the opportunity to learn from one another both personally and professionally. 🤝

At today’s Helsingborg International Rotary Club meeting, we had the pleasure of hearing from the three participating students about their experiences.

Their reflections were thoughtful, inspiring, and full of gratitude. It was clear how valuable the mentorships had been in helping them build confidence, networks, local insight, and professional understanding. 😊

A huge thank you to the students for their engagement, openness, and excellent presentations, and equally to the mentors for generously sharing their time, experience, and encouragement.

Initiatives like this matter. Mentorships help international students feel connected to the region, strengthen their professional opportunities, and support talent retention in Helsingborg and Skåne. They also demonstrate the value of collaboration between organisations, networks, and local communities in creating long-term regional growth. 🚀

The positive response today — including several new volunteers stepping forward as mentors — shows the strength and potential of this initiative. We look forward to the next round of mentorships after the summer break.

Well done to Erica Farrer, Steve Sunny Emmanuel, and Dibyo Iriansyah Sugama for today's presentations, and to Robbyna, Catharina, and Margaret for their engagement over the last year! 😃

🌿 Walk, talk, connect 🌿

Today's Walk & Talk in the beautiful and historic Ramlösa Brunnspark brought together internationals of all ages, backgrounds and interests for an afternoon of conversation, connection and wellbeing.

With its unique atmosphere and rich history as one of Sweden’s most well-known spa and wellness destinations, the park provided the perfect setting to slow down, connect and experience another special part of Helsingborg together. 🌺

🌍 Participants joined us from Austria, Germany, Iceland, the UK, Peru, the Philippines, New Zealand, Sweden and Iran — a wonderful reminder of how international Helsingborg truly is.

Events like these help people feel connected not only to each other, but also to the city they now call home. Creating opportunities for networking, friendship and belonging is an important part of making Helsingborg a place where international talent can thrive, stay and contribute long-term. 🫶

A simple walk in the park can lead to new conversations, new perspectives and new community connections 💚

Thank you to everyone who joined us — we look forward to the next HIC event!

You can't have missed that the NATO foreign ministers' meeting takes place in Helsingborg on Friday.

Operation Azalea is the name of the massive police undertaking to keep the delegates and local residents safe. Other security forces are in attendance, including the bomb squad, coastguard, and the navy. 🚢

The citizens of Helsingborg were out today, curious to watch the convoys heading in and out of the Clarion SeaU Hotel.

An informal dinner was hosted by the King and Queen at Sofiero slott this evening - it must have been a beautiful setting! 🌺

This afternoon, we attended a talk for the business community about the upcoming NATO meeting.

The City welcomed NATO and international politics expert, Ann-Sofie Dahl, who described Sweden's hosting of the meeting only a short time after joining as "unique and historic."

We also heard from local and fast-expanding defence company, Mildef, and technology & solution business, Combitech, as well as listening to a panel debate of journalists.

The City of Helsingborg has produced a new book firmly focused on its work towards preparedness and resilience. This will be given to the attending NATO delegates and we were pleased to procure an English version.

🚨 From the upper levels at Dunkers kulturhus, it was easy to see the security preparations for the NATO meeting. There's a coastguard ship in place, several police boats, and grates have been fixed to Kvickbron to stop anyone entering underwater from Norra Hamnen. As most people will know by now, there's a large police and security presence in town for the next two days.

A few hours later, the Swedish Prime Minister and the Secretary General of NATO arrived in Helsingborg and took dinner on the coastguard ship.

🌿 Lace up your boots and join us for a Climate Walk through Helsingborg!🚶‍♂️🚶‍♀️

☀️ Summer is around the corner in Sweden. Are you ready to welcome the season by exploring the city we live in together?

🌱 Join HIC for a guided climate walk through Helsingborg together with Miljöstaden, where we will spend two inspiring hours walking through the city, discovering the sustainability challenges and initiatives that will shape the future.

Along the walk, we will stop at different locations around Helsingborg and discuss topics such as:

🌊 Ocean and coastal challenges
🌳 Urban trees and green spaces
🚲 Sustainable transportation
🏗️ Sustainable construction and city planning
🌫️ Air pollution and climate adaptation strategies

We will also stroll through the charming old parts of Helsingborg, where 16th-century buildings give the city a unique atmosphere, before ending the tour at Slottshagen by the iconic Kärnan castle.

This is more than just a walk, but also an opportunity to:

✨ Learn more about Helsingborg
✨ Reflect on sustainability in everyday city life
✨ Meet new people and enjoy the summer weather
✨ Spend meaningful time outdoors with the HIC community

Walk, learn, discuss, and enjoy the city with us. 💚
