⚽🌍 The World Cup is here — and Gothenburg is watching together! 🎉
Whether you're backing Sweden, cheering on your home country, or just here for the goals, the gasps and the good vibes, you don't need a ticket or a TV at home to be part of it. From 11 June to 19 July, the city is full of free places to catch the matches with fellow fans. Grab your friends, your family, your flag — and pick your spot!
📺 Big screens at Ullevi Plaza & Ullevi (free) The main event!
Sweden's group games and the grand final on giant screens, with entertainment, activities and food and drink on site. The area opens two hours before the matches begin. 🟡 Mon 15 June, 04:00 — Sweden vs Tunisia 🔵 Sat 20 June, 19:00 — Netherlands vs Sweden 🟡 Fri 26 June, 01:00 — Japan vs Sweden 🏆 Sun 19 July, 21:00 — The Final
📚 City Library & cultural centers (free, family-friendly) The City Library and several cultural center screen a wider mix of fixtures — think Spain vs Cape Verde and Czech Republic vs South Africa in a relaxed, welcoming setting. ☕ And because so many games kick off overnight, the City Library will screen morning replays throughout the tournament, starting on 12 June. Breakfast football, anyone?
🌳 Screenings in squares & parks (free) Local neighbourhoods get in on the action too! Sweden's Midsummer Day match (Netherlands vs Sweden, 20 June) will screen outdoors at Hjällbo Centrum, Opalparken and near Friskväderstorget, and the grand final (19 July) plays at Gårdstensdalen park. A proper community watch party! 🙌
🎨 Family World Cup zones (free) Bring the kids to the football zones at Grönsakstorget and the Plikta playground in Slottsskogen — table tennis, football games, face painting, obstacle courses and visits from local clubs. ⚽
🍻 Prefer a pub? Want to catch every game, including your own team's? Plenty of sports bars and pubs around the city are showing all the matches — many with extended late-night hours for those overnight kick-offs. 🌙
So whatever colours you're wearing, there's a place for you. See you out there, and may the best team win! 💛💙
