An insightful story by an international student attending Chalmers School of Entrepreneurship!
"THE ENTREPRENEURIAL INSIDER"
Hi!
My name is Christiana Doran and this week I am sharing my story as an international student at Chalmers School of Entrepreneurship. During fika breaks (potentially the world’s greatest invention), I sometimes get asked how I came to be in Gothenburg and the answer is - Chalmers! Before packing up my life and moving to Sweden, I had studied Medical Science and Law at the University of Technology, Sydney. I had always wanted to use my background in a creative and collaborative way but was never quite sure how.
My interests had always seemed so diverse yet as I continued to research them the common thread seemed to be at Chalmers. There were just so many cool and interesting projects happening within the school that I wanted to be a part of it and now I am excited to be one of 13 students enrolled in the Corporate track of the Masters of Entrepreneurship and Business Design programme. The programme is quite unique, operating in the gap between research and industry and because of Chalmers’ academic focus we get to work with industry relevant projects transforming research into a reality whilst also exploring the concept of intrapreneurship through classes and internships. The thing that really makes the programme though, is its location. Gothenburg provides the perfect environment for innovation from a social and cultural perspective and it is heartening walking around the city seeing shops with technologies that I had only ever read about as prototypes like the Hodving bicycle helmet.
Suffice to say, living in Gothenburg has been a great experience and it is amazing to think that in just ten weeks of the programme, we have been equipped with technical knowledge and practical skills; worked on interesting technical projects; formed lifelong friendships and even found time to party together in Copenhagen! The experience has been transformational and I am excited for what is to come.
