Tugende Together Welcome to Tugende Together, an association dedicated to all things Africa for everyone!

Tugende Together translates to “We Walk Together.” It’s a combination of the Swahili word “Tugende,” meaning “we walk/go,” and the English word “Together.”

Our association aims to create a vibrant arena where families, youth, and adults can participate in and immerse themselves in the rich heritage of various African countries. By offering diverse activities, we aspire for each part of the event

to be like a meaningful oasis filled with culture, joy, and opportunities for knowledge exchange. Our goal is to provide a deeper understanding of the continent’s multifaceted cultures and its diverse population.

Julmys med Tugende Together! 🎄

Fredag 6/12 kl. 14 - 18 bjuder vi in er till julmys med oss på julmarknaden i Kronhuset! Vi kommer duka upp ett pysselbord där du kan skapa dina egna juldekorationer med en afrikansk touch, gratis, och det kommer finnas lite takeaway-fika till försäljning som till exempel sambosa och mandazi. Vi kommer även ha en myshörna där du kan krypa in för att delta i vår sagostund!

Om det finns en dag varje år, vare sig det är av religiösa eller kommersiella, politiska eller andliga anledningar, då människor tar en stund ur sina hektiska liv för att ge någon annan en vänlig tanke, en gåva eller helt enkelt ägna tid åt att hjälpa till så är det vid jul. Om den dagen kan ge ens en kort paus i oroligheterna och konflikterna i vår värld, så är det ett ögonblick av magi. Ett ögonblick av frid, ett ögonblick av medkänsla och ett ögonblick av kärlek.

Just detta är vad Tugende Together representerar och har som målsättning, det är dessa värderingar som är grunden föreningen bygger på! Julen och dagarna runt den är en tid för drömmar, en tid fylld av magi och gemenskap. Vi vill bidra till och vara en del av den magi som händer när människor möts för att önska varandra lycka, frid, hälsa och kärlek. Kom och var en del av det med oss! ✨

Cozy Christmas hang-out with Tugende Together! 🎄

Friday 6/12 at 14.00 - 18.00 we invite you to join us for a cozy Christmas hang-out at the Christmas market at Kronhuset! We will set up a craft table where you can create your own Christmas decorations with an African touch, for free, and there will be some takeaway treats for sale, such as mandazi and sambosa. We will also have a cozy corner where you can get comfortable and join us for a story time session!

If there is one day each year - whether for religious or commercial, political or spiritual reasons - when people take a moment out of their busy lives to offer someone else a kind thought, a gift, or simply spend time helping, it’s Christmas. If that day can bring even a brief pause to the unrest and conflicts in our world, then that is a moment of magic. A moment of peace, a moment of compassion, and a moment of love.

This is what Tugende Together represents and what we strive for, these values are what our association is built on! Christmas and the days leading up to it is a time for dreaming, a time filled with magic and togetherness. We want to contribute to and be part of the magic that happens when people come together to wish one another happiness, peace, health, and love. Come and be part of it together with us! ✨

I morgon smäller det och det är dags att presentera Tugende Together: Roots’ sista akt. Det är ingen mindre än Alfred Obita, mer känd som DJ Al-Free, som kommer förgylla dansgolvet med musik natten lång! Han kommer även vara familjediscots DJ! 🪩🥰

Al-Free är född i Uganda och växte upp i Sverige efter att ha kommit som flykting som sexåring. Hans intresse för DJing började vid 13 års ålder och har lett till en över 25 år lång, passionerad karriär som DJ där han fyllt dansgolv efter dansgolv. Han har spelat på klubbar och evenemang runt om i världen, bland annat i USA och flera europeiska länder. Al-Frees karriär har inneburit både glädje och utmaningar, där musiken hjälpt honom övervinna fördomar och diskriminering. På klubben Calor, som han drev mellan 2011 - 2014, nådde han en bredare, internationell publik och utvecklade sin förmåga att blanda olika musikstilar; från afrikansk musik till reggaeton och amerikansk hiphop. Vi ser med andra ord fram emot att få dansa till en skön mix i morgon!

Al-Free är även Tugende Togethers grundare, en längre presentation av honom och föreningen kommer framöver! ✨

It’s going down tomorrow, and it’s time to present the last act of Tugende Together: Roots. It’s none other than Alfred Obita, better known as DJ Al-Free, who will light up the dance floor with music all night! He will also be the family disco’s DJ! 🪩🥰

Al-Free was born in Uganda and grew up in Sweden after arriving as a refugee at the age of six. His interest in DJing began at the age of 13 and has led to a 25+ year long, passionate career as a DJ filling dance floor after dance floor. He has played at clubs and events around the world, i.a in the USA and several European countries. Al-Free's career has been one of joy and challenge, with music helping him overcome prejudice and discrimination. At the club Calor, which he ran between 2011 - 2014, he reached a broader, international audience and developed his ability to mix different music genres; from African music to reggaeton and American hip hop. With that said, we look forward to dancing to a mix full of nice vibes tomorrow!

Al-Free’s also the founder of Tugende Together, stay tuned for a longer presentation of him and the association! ✨

Det finns fortfarande några säljplatser kvar på Tugende Market! Du som är eller blir medlem kan boka en gratis plats senast torsdag 22/8 genom att skicka oss ett DM eller maila [email protected]. Först till kvarn gäller! 🫶🏽

Du kan t.ex sälja kläder, smycken och inredning med koppling till Afrika som du inte längre använder eller om du har en egen verksamhet med produkter med ursprung i den afrikanska kontinenten! OBS, gäller ej försäljning av tillagad mat då det kommer finnas en matvagn på plats under eventet.

Vi fixar med bord och resten ordnar du så som du själv vill!

There are still a few spots left to sell at Tugende Market! If you are, or become a member, you can book a spot for free by Thursday 22/8 latest through sending us a DM or email [email protected]. First come first served applies! 🫶🏽

You can sell, e.g, clothes, jewelry and home decor with connections to Africa that you no longer use or if you have your own business with products originating from the African continent! NB, this does not apply to selling cooked food as there will be a food cart on site during the event.

We provide the table and you arrange the rest as you wish!

Cirkustalangen Nebiyat Tsegaye, med bakgrund i det etiopiska cirkuskompaniet Circus Debre Berhan, kommer att gästa Tugende Together: Roots och bjuda på ett litet cirkusnummer! Hon har varit professionell cirkusartist sedan barnsben och uppträtt runt om i världen. Kom och hänförs av hennes konster tillsammans med oss den 24e augusti! 🤩

The circus talent Nebiyat Tsegaye, with a background in the Ethiopian circus company Circus Debre Berhan, will be a special guest at Tugende Together: Roots and treat us to a small circus act! She has been a professional circus artist since childhood and has performed around the world. Come with us and be amazed by her skills on August 24th! 🤩

Under Tugende Together: Roots kommer han att bjuda på en serie uppträdanden som inkluderar allt från dans och sång till en inspirerande modevisning! Dias tar med sig sin kreativa glöd och passion för kultur + konst och kommer att underhålla oss med både sina pedagogiska insikter och artistiska talanger. Missa inte chansen att uppleva hans unika och fängslande framföranden! 🫶🏽

Familjedisco: Dansglädje för hela familjen! ✨🪩✨

Välkomna till en sprudlande eftermiddag fylld med musik, dans och glädje! 24e augusti, mellan 14.30 - 16.00, bjuder vi in både stora och små till vårt Familjedisco där vi tillsammans skapar härliga minnen på dansgolvet. Ta med hela familjen och gör er redo för en eftermiddag full av skratt och rörelse!

I många afrikanska kulturer är det vanligt att barn och vuxna dansar tillsammans, som ett sätt att fira livet och dela glädje. Genom att dansa tillsammans förs traditionella danser och musik vidare från generation till generation. På vårt Familjedisco vill vi fortsätta med denna vackra tradition och skapa en plats där alla, oavsett ålder, kan känna sig fria att uttrycka sig genom dans!

Vårt dansgolv kommer att vara öppet och tillgängligt för alla med musik som tilltalar både stora och små, givetvis med anpassad ljudvolym. Under tiden kommer vi även krydda eftermiddagen med roliga inslag som Dansstopp, Limbo och det klassiska Discotåget. Det kommer finnas gott om utrymme för att släppa loss och ha roligt, du kan dansa precis som du vill!

Oavsett om du är en dansfantast eller bara vill skaka loss lite så kommer det finnas något för alla. Vårt Familjedisco handlar om att ha kul tillsammans och vi ser fram emot att dela denna glädjefyllda eftermiddag med er!

Family Disco: Joy of dance for the whole family! ✨🪩✨
Welcome to a vibrant afternoon filled with music, dance and joy! On August 14th, between 14.30 - 16.00, we invite both young and old to our Family Disco, where together we create wonderful memories on the dance floor. Bring the whole family and get ready for an afternoon full of laughter and movement!

In many African cultures, it's common for children and adults to dance together as a way to celebrate life and share joy. By dancing together, traditional dances and music are passed down from generation to generation. At our Family Disco, we want to carry on this beautiful tradition and create a space where everyone, regardless of age, can feel free to express themselves through dance!

Our dance floor will be open and accessible to all, with music that appeals to both young and old, of course with an adjusted volume level. We’ll also spice up the afternoon with fun activities like Dance Stop, Limbo and the classic Disco Train. There will be plenty of space to let loose and have fun; you can dance just the way you want!

Whether you are a dance lover or just want to let a bit loose, there will be something for everyone. Our Family Disco is all about having fun together and we look forward to sharing this joyful afternoon with you!

Kom på Djembeworkshop med Lamine Faty på Tugende Together: Roots 24e augusti! Begränsat antal trummor finns att låna, ta gärna med en egen om du har!🪘❤️

Lamine är en fantastisk musiker och Djembefola från Senegal med slagverk som huvudinstrument. Han växte upp med vad han beskriver som ett bibliotek av rytmer som en del av vardagen och hade tidigt en enormt stark dragning till Djemben. Lamine har alltid känt att det uppstår magi när han spelar Djembe, en kraft som blir till kärlek för de som lyssnar. Hans stora förebild Mamady Keïta, som är anledningen till att han spelar just Djembe, talade alltid om att Djemben inte ser färg, form, bakgrund eller social status utan bara är kärlek, är till för alla och kan samla människor. Just detta är Lamines ledord i hans musicerande: kärlek, att samlas och sprida glädje!

Lamine har spelat, och spelar fortfarande, i fler olika band i Senegal, Spanien samt Sverige och har lång erfarenhet av att undervisa barn och vuxna. Kom och upplev Djembens magi tillsammans med Lamine! ✨

Join us for a Djembe workshop with Lamine Faty at Tugende Together: Roots on August 24th! A limited number of drums are available to borrow so please bring your own if you have one!🪘❤️

Lamine is a fantastic musician and Djembefola from Senegal with perkussion as his main instrument. He grew up with what he describes as a library of rhythms as part of everyday life and had a very strong attraction to the Djembe from an early age. Lamine has always felt that magic happens when he plays the Djembe, a force that turns into love for those who listen. His great role model Mamady Keïta, who is the reason he plays the Djembe, always spoke of how the Djembe doesn’t see color, shape, background or social status but is only love, is for everyone and can bring people together. This has shaped Lamine’s keywords in his music making which are; love, to gather and spread joy!

Lamine has played, and still plays, in several bands in Senegal, Spain and Sweden and has extensive experience teaching children and adults. Come experience the magic of the Djembe together with Lamine! ✨
