【September Market Schedule】

Finally, we have weekly presence in Gothenburg! For the longest time we – the farmers and those we feed – have been yearning for a consistently, recurring marketplace to provide access to decent local food: not just our own, and certainly not one-off offerings.

And now we’ve got it! It gives us great pleasure to announce we’re coming down south to Gothenburg every Saturday in September and October – all except one will be to Grönsakstorget. Makes it easy enough to find us and our food-producing chums!

Oh and we’ve managed to squeeze in a couple extra appearances to our north, including our own monthly Agora på Vårvik. When in abundance, cast the bounty wide and far.

September marks the start of our harvest season!

Not only are we finally harvesting our crops of gorgeous vegetables – we’ve been doing that since May anyway – but also the relationships we sowed and foundations we built.

And it all culminates on Grönsakstorget: eight Saturdays straight, everything we’ve worked on and towards this year.

Blimey August, where did you go? You were over in the blink of an eye.

The past 31 days have already begun blurring together. So much happened – we’ve barely stopped or rested amidst the unprecedented eventfulness and the need to ”just do”.

Good thing we did pause at times to capture moments of farm life, both on- and offsite. Not only because our memory might require jogging: recording snippets of video gave us the chances to stay still – even just for seconds – and savour the fruits our hardships and values bore.

And to take a micro-break.

Igår samlades nyfikna odlare och kockar på Wealdbrook Farm för en Gårdsträff fylld av nya smaker, odlingsidéer och tankar om hur vi tillsammans kan skapa ett mer hållbart och resilient matsystem.

Sara och Dylan delade generöst med sig av sina erfarenheter och sitt sätt att arbeta med agroekologi. För dem handlar det inte bara om hur man odlar, utan också om vilket matsystem man vill vara med och bygga.

Agroekologin omfattar inte bara ekologiska utan också sociala principer. Det handlar om att ta vara på gårdens resurser, stärka den biologiska mångfalden och arbeta med naturen snarare än mot den. Men lika viktigt är samarbete, samskapande, kunskapsutbyte och relationerna mellan odlare, kockar, konsumenter och andra lokala aktörer.

Det märks tydligt i hur Sara och Dylan jobbar. Genom samarbete och nya former för försäljning och distribution försöker de hitta sätt att få mer lokalt producerad och näringsrik mat att hamna på våra tallrikar och att maten ska skapa glädje och fungera som en bro mellan kulturer. Målet är inte bara en hållbar gård, utan att tillsammans med andra bidra till ett mer lokalt och hälsosamt matsystem, för både naturen och människorna.

Vi fick också upptäcka ovanliga grödor, sorter och smaker och diskutera hur mångfald i odlingen kan skapa både motståndskraft och nya möjligheter. Och på tallriken fortsatte experimentlusten! 🌸🥬
Sara och Dylan bjöd på vackert presenterade små smakexplosioner som speglade samma lekfullhet och nyfikenhet som finns i odlingen.

Dagen blev en fin presentation om att agroekologi inte bara handlar om vad som händer i jorden. Det handlar mycket om människorna runt maten och om vad vi kan skapa när vi gör det tillsammans.

We do love a farm tour! Here are some snapshots of when we show some horticulture students from Nuntorp Gård around during their study trip.

And we’re hosting another one this weekend! On Sunday, as part of the LEADER Göta älv & Säveån project Växtkraft, Wealdbrook Farm will once again open its doors. On the day we shall do a deep dive into the principles of agroecology, learn about some of our unusual yet lucrative crops and plant varieties, and get hands-on experience with crop succession and creating your own salad mix.

Och vi har ytterligare en i helgen! På söndag, som en del av Leader Göta älv & Säveån-projektet Växtkraft, öppnar Wealdbrook Agroekologi återigen sina dörrar. Den dagen kommer vi att djupdyka i agroekologins principer, lära oss om några av våra ovanliga men lukrativa grödor och växtsorter, och få praktisk erfarenhet av växtföljd och att skapa din egen salladsblandning.

Ours is a wonderful friendship that began three years ago in LJ and Amelie’s garage – which is also where 12 Knots Coffee took its baby steps.

Feels like we’ve grown up alongside each other over the years: theirs from a homegrown coffee roastery to a popular Korean-style cafe, ours from an empty field to thriving market farm.

We’ve spent a lot of time together, stood side-by-side at countless markets, bonded over our many common threads: the highs and lows of being small business owners in Trollhättan; the love of flavours and gastronomic cultures; the constant need to remind ourselves and exercise work-life balance; the many experiences, hilarious or difficult, of being an Asian male/Swedish woman entrepreneurial power couple (we’re an extremely rare breed this neck of the woods).

More than friends, we’re now also partners with a bunch of collaborations to boot! 12 Knots Coffee has been the Trollhättan collection point of our subscription scheme, while our vegetables have been gracing the dish of 12 Knots’ food menu – and you can count on their coffee to be served at our farm events. And then who knows where else this relationship will lead!

Oh and you might have seen or drunk coffee on the live-edge countertop: that’s Dylan’s handiwork made from wood in our forest!

Please, step into our market stall.

There you won’t just find our vegetables and fruits of our love and labour.

There is also a glimpse of the land we steward, and a world of possibilities and delectable things perfectly capable of growing and thriving in our climate and soil.

There is a feast for the sight, a marvel on the palate, and the becoming of what you eat most deserving of your love of oneself.

There are also the values and convictions we stand for via the ways we work and produce – values you most likely already share and abide to with us.

There is us as our best selves – not because we ought to be in our best behaviour, but that presenting ourselves and what we’ve created at a market setting is our favourite part of the job.
