‼️Update: Rethinking Linné has changed it’s name to Pluriversal Dialogues. This is to reflect some new ideas about what the space should be, expanding beyond a study circle to explore new avenues and possibilities of how to engage with decoloniality.

What does Pluriversal Dialogues mean? Pluriversality is a concept connected to Decoloniality. It highlights the many radically different lifeworlds, knowledge systems, belief systems and realities that exist in parallel and in direct contrast to the western universal outlook of one reality, one science one way of being human. By naming the page after this concept we hope to engage the pluriverse through different formats of dialogue as we continue the decolonial journey.

Welcome to the second semester of Rethinking Linné! ✨

Last semester we learnt a lot about different topics, but also about ourselves. It was a rewarding journey that will now continue throughout the autumn. We hope to have new decolonisers with us.

The meeting is a start-up meeting, which means we will together be creating a foundation and direction for the study circle’s second semester.

The meeting and study circle is free and open to all. Snacks will be provided at the meeting ☕️🍪🍎

We hope to see you there!

🗓️When: Thursday 21 September

🕕Time: 18:00

Our first outdoor meeting 🌳 hopefully one of many more to come 🌼

At Rethinking Linné’s seventh meeting we talked about decoloniality and indigenous people. We talked about allyship and ethics when it comes to practicing indigenous methodologies as non-indigenous. A key word that came up was . In the sharing of knowledges and worldviews part of decolonial praxis could be to give back, perhaps more than one receives.

Practicing listening, and believing. Two incredibly important tools in decolonial work.

At Rethinking Linné’s sixth meeting we talked about BPOC encountering racism, the dangers of thinking that Sweden is a “colour-blind” society,
and the psychological and physical toll of encountering racism, but also the limiting beliefs caused by racism towards oneself.

We also initiated our collaboration with for an upcoming event! 🙌✨🌼

🌼 A creation of individual mind maps on a shared space to represent that we are connected individuals and that our thoughts together can come together in both similarities and differences.

At Rethinking Linné’s fifth meeting we talked about how cultural meetings can both trigger harmful power imbalances and exploitation, but also trigger positive individual and social development through learning from each other and creating new knowledge.

We extend our discussion to you. Where can we see destructive/creative sides of cultural meetings? 🌼

At Rethinking Linné’s fourth meeting we discussed decoloniality, gender, and sexuality and asked participants to bring an item that represented their reflections. What a wonderful way of learning and sharing 🙌

We talked about how European Coloniality structured a particular gender and sexuality binary and enforced it worldwide, and how it is hard to escape as it is part of the foundation of modern society. María Lugones writes brilliantly about it in her paper Heterosexualism and the Colonial / Modern Gender System!

Stay tuned for info about next meeting!

Hot tip for engaging decolonial praxis, play dough! 🤩

As it engaged out thinking minds 💭and bodies 🤲, it was an excellent tool for creatively expressing our reflections about Swedens colonial heritage and the colonisation of Sápmi.

Among the things we talked about was the ongoing colonization through green initiatives and how non-indigenous people could be allies in a non-harmful way to also work against modern colonialism.

We hope to see you at the next meeting to discuss the topic of Gender and Sexuality thisThursday 23rd March!
