❤️
Andrè was involved in a serious boat accident yesterday during a World Championship race in San Nazzaro, Italy. Because of the big impact he needed to be placed in a medically induced coma and intubated, and was airlifted to a hospital in Parma.
Our dad went after him to the hospital and
thankfully he remained stable throughout the night. He was extubated this morning and has been awake and responsive. He doesn’t remember anything about the crash, but the doctors say it’s expected. They want to keep observing him and make sure he is completely stable, before they move him out of the intensive care unit.
He is understandably very tired and sleeping a lot, but he is here with us, and that is what matters most. Our mum and I have now flown down to Italy, so we can all be together.
We are incredibly grateful for the Bergamo scuba divers, the Cremona family, the Italian federation, all the medical staff who have taken such good care of him, and for everyone who has reached out, sent messages, and kept him in their thoughts. Our thoughts also go out to the other ones involved in the accident❤️
For now, we are just incredibly thankful that he is awake and that we can be here with him❤️
