How can Europan become a tool for creating a shared vision in complex urban development?

We kicked off Almedalen Week, Sweden’s annual forum for politics, public policy and societal dialogue, with a roundtable hosted together with Fastighetsägarna Stockholm.

Over breakfast, municipalities, property owners, architects and former Europan winners discussed questions such as:

How can Europan become a catalyst for implementation?
How can it create more opportunities for young architects after the competition?
Are we ready to open our sites to new perspectives from across Europe?

A big thank you to everyone who joined the conversation.

We are now looking for sites for Europan 19. If your municipality or organisation wants to use Europan to bring stakeholders together and shape a shared vision for the future, we’d love to hear from you.

We are excited to announce that Europan Day will take place in Stockholm on March 13th, at 13:00! We are very happy to gather at ArkDes ( ), followed by a mingle at the Public Art Agency Sweden ( ).

This inspiring event, generously supported by , offers valuable opportunities for dialogue, networking, and innovation in architecture and urban development.

During the afternoon, the winners of the Swedish Europan 18 sites will present their projects on stage. The program also features keynote talks by Søren Pihlmann ( ) and Romain Leval ( ).

This autumn, all proposals were exhibited across Sweden in the four participating municipalities Eslöv, Karlstad, Malmö and Uppsala, welcoming local visitors and receiving coverage in the press. We concluded the tour in January with an exhibition of the winning proposals at KTH School of Architecture.

Now we look forward to hearing the winners present their projects at the upcoming Europan Day in March! Registration opens soon!
