Today 8 of our Scouts completed an 18 km cycling adventure through the Runriket in Täby as part of their Local Knowledge and Adventure Challenge badges! 🚴⚜️

Runriket (the kingdom of runes) is a historic area in Vallentuna known for it's runestones, the vast majority of which were carved and erected around the end of the Viking Age, around 970 – 1130 AD.

Starting at Jarlabanke bro (a bridge built by the landowner Jarlabanke featuring some of the many runestones that he and his family raised, with which we are able to follow his family tree) the Scouts circled Vallentunasjön clockwise, tracking the runestones, reading the inscriptions and exploring local history.

Despite the fact that it had rained most of they day, we were rewarded with beautiful sunshine and stunning Swedish countryside. A brilliant effort from everyone involved, especially considering that for a generally low-lying country, our trails seemed to go up and down constantly! Some tired legs expected tomorrow, well done to all those who took part and a big thank you to our Leaders on this adventure 🪨

After the summer our Beaver meetings will move to Mondays, 17.30 - 19.00, to give us a chance to grow, do more adventurous activities and welcome new members to our Beaver Colony. A big change, yes, but an exciting one too.

Beavers is for anyone aged 6-8 years old and is all about growing and learning in small but mighty ways, by exploring the great outdoors, trying new things and helping others. Could one of those new members be you?

Here at 1st Djursholm we also have Cubs (8-10 years), Scouts (10 - 14 years) and Explorers (14-18 years) so if any eager Beavers, other young people or adults would like to find out more about joining they can use the link https://forms.gle/gWcvLF158iVCv5LaA , scan the QR code, or save the image to your phone and open the QR link from your camera roll and someone will be in touch with more information.

Go on, send it to someone you know who might be interested.

This week saw Scouts start their Scientist badge with a lesson in buoyancy... Their challenge? Build a miniature raft using simple materials like sticks, string, cork, foam, and plastic.
The time pressure was on to finish before the final test - to see which raft could hold the most weight before sinking (obviously the most entertaining part of the evening!) ⛵

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 On Monday our Cub pack learned about St David’s Day and why it is important in Wales. We discovered that St David, the patron saint of Wales, was a teacher and monk who encouraged people to “do the little things,” a message that still inspires many today. Our Cubs (and Leaders!) decided on some 'little things' they would do in the next week or two, and we look forward to finding out how they got on.
Next up was a lesson in Welsh, learning to pronounce the Welsh town of Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch before frying up some Welsh cakes in true Scout style... on trangias! 🍪

In Sweden, we have a saying: ”det finns inget dåligt väder, bara dåliga kläder” (there is no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing) and our Cubs last surely proved it right! 🌟💫🌙
In a brisk -5° and a blanket of snow they set off to the forest for a snowy evening of star gazing and smores around the open fire 🔥🍫 These are the magical moments that make the memories ❄️

J’Accuse...! 🕵️‍♂️✨
Last night our Explorer Scouts went full Roaring Twenties for a very entertaining murder mystery night - sharp suits, flapper vibes, secret clues, and suspicious characters everywhere! Our suspects including the likes of the bartender ’Jinn Slinger’, party guest ’Shay D. Sort’ and actress ’Mimi Crye’, and all our Explorers and Network did a fantastic job living up to their parts! Whodunnit? Only the sharpest of detectives could solve the case… 🎩🔍

Happy International Volunteers Day! 🌍💛 Today we celebrate the incredible volunteers who make our Scout Group the dedicated, welcoming, and inspiring community it is. From our Leaders to Trustee Board Members, Occasional Helpers, and Parent Helpers, every single one of our volunteers gives their time freely, not for reward but for the young people they support.

Here are just a few of our amazing volunteers, spending late-nights planning to muddy weekends outdoors, pouring in their time, energy, and heart to help our young people grow, explore, and gain skills for life. We are endlessly grateful for all that you do. Thank you all for being the heart of our community and for helping make the world a better place. 🙌✨

Saturday saw a small group of Explorers, Network and Leaders join forces with the Globetrotters International Scouts to volunteer at Mackfabriken, the ’Sandwich Factory’ at
Here they made hundreds of sandwiches which will be delivered with tea and coffee to those in need in Stockholm City 🥪☕️ whilst making new friends with other international Scouts.
What better way to spend a Saturday?
