Who We Are

Project Vita is a nonprofit organization that has it roots in Sweden and Mozambique and carries out several projects in Mozambique. How We Work

At Project Vita, development comes from closing a knowledge gap between those who have access to knowledge and those who do not. For each project we form a team of foreign and local volunteers who work side by side to develop the communities i

n Mozambique. What We Do

Together with the community, Project Vita finds solutions to everyday challenges by introducing new techniques and technologies that can then be reproduced at low cost by community members to improve their quality of life. At Project Vita, we believe the secret to sustainable and frog-leap development is knowledge sharing. We run a program that brings knowledge and techniques from overseas through a network of foreign volunteers who adapt their methods to the local community’s traditional methods, helping empower villagers to improve their lives. At Project Vita, we believe that we can only make meaningful changes in others’ lives if we walk in their shoes! Our supporters and volunteers are strongly encouraged to come live with us in the community to get a deeper understanding of the needs of the people whose lives they are helping. Only by working, living and walking side by side can we truly understand and help each other!

Today it’s Mozambican Women’s Day and is celebrated on April 7th in honor of Josina Machel.
•
She was a key figure in the liberation movement FRELIMO, fighting not only for independence but also for women’s rights in Mozambique. When she passed away on April 7, 1971, at just 25 years old, she became a powerful symbol of courage, resilience, and the strength of women.
•
This day is celebrated to:

• honor the role of women in the country’s history
• highlight the ongoing fight for gender equality
• celebrate the impact of women in society today

It’s a meaningful and inspiring day that recognizes the vital role women play in building communities and shaping the future 💛

Hej!

Emma och William här. Sedan början av februari befinner vi oss i Linga Linga i Moçambique där vi genomför en fältstudie till vårt examensarbete.

Vi studerar Industriell ekonomi på Chalmers med en masterinriktning mot kvalitet och verksamhetsutveckling. I vårt projekt undersöker vi hur det lokala fisket kan nyttjas bättre för att stärka välfärden och försörjningsmöjligheterna i byn.

När vi kom hit möttes vi av en otroligt varm och välkomnande gemenskap. Vår roll som utbytesstudenter har tagits emot med stor nyfikenhet och generositet, människor här är öppna med att dela sina erfarenheter och visa hur vardagen ser ut.

Att arbeta i en kontext som denna ger ett viktigt perspektiv. Det är först när man är på plats som man verkligen börjar förstå hur vardagen, resurserna och de lokala förutsättningarna påverkar vilka lösningar som faktiskt fungerar.

För oss handlar projektet lika mycket om lärande som om bidrag. Genom att arbeta tillsammans med invånarna i byn hoppas vi kunna bidra med nya idéer, samtidigt som vi själva lär oss enormt mycket av den kunskap och kreativitet som redan finns här.

Hi!

We are Emma and William, currently based in Linga Linga in Mozambique since the beginning of February, where we are conducting a field study for our master thesis.

We study Industrial Engineering and Management at Chalmers University of Technology, specializing in Quality and Operations Management. Our project explores how the use of local fish resources could be improved to strengthen livelihoods and welfare in the village.

When we arrived, we were met with an incredibly warm and welcoming community. Our role as exchange students has been received with curiosity and openness, and people here are eager to share their experiences and show us what everyday life looks like.

Working in this context provides an important perspective. It is only when being on site that one truly begins to understand how daily realities, resource constraints, and local conditions shape what kinds of solutions are actually viable.

For us, this project is as much about learning as it is about contributing. By collaborating with community members, we hope to bring new ideas while also learning from the knowledge and creativity that already exist here.

🌧️ Situationen i Moçambique just nu är utmanade.
•
Uppdatering på ”Light up Pomene”. Tack till alla som stöttade oss under adventskampanjen under Julen❤️
•
och åkte ner till Pomene för att genomföra Light Up Pomene, men vägarna var helt oframkomliga på grund av de massiva översvämningarna. Projektet kunde tyvärr inte genomföras som planerat men vi är på gång ändå.
•
Trots allt lyckades de som en sista grej transportera alla lampor till Vilanculos, där de möttes av ett team som var tvungen att flyga upp från Maputo eftersom vägarna är förstörda på flera platser och resor på land är omöjliga.
•
Det här är vardagen för många just nu. Infrastruktur, hem och liv slås sönder på några dagar,stigande matpriser och brist på saker.
•
Vi fortsätter. Vi anpassar oss. Och vi ger inte upp.💪
•

I samband med tredje advent vill vi uppmärksamma den konkreta nytta som Light Up Pomene kan skapa — något vi redan sett tydligt genom arbetet i Linga Linga. Det påminner oss om vad vi tillsammans åstadkommit tidigare, och varför vi nu tar nästa steg 💡

Efter de starka resultaten i Linga Linga vill vi fortsätta utvecklingen i Pomene. Utmaningarna är desamma: avlägsna byar, långa avstånd till elnätet och hushåll som saknar tillförlitligt ljus. Solenergilösningar gör omedelbar skillnad genom att ge ljus i hemmen, öka tryggheten och skapa mer tid på kvällarna för studier och andra vardagsaktiviteter 📚

I Pomene ser vi samma potential som i Linga Linga. Erfarenheterna därifrån visar tydligt hur solenergi kan förbättra vardagen — och att era gåvor faktiskt gör skillnad. Med starka samarbeten, långsiktigt engagemang och lärdomar från tidigare projekt går vi in i Light Up Pomene med stor tilltro. Vi tror att det kan bli minst lika framgångsrikt som Linga Linga — kanske till och med ännu bättre 🙌
