Zag Rags

Zag Rags A community of women making Sudanese fabric crafts for sale A small sewing workshop was started in 1994 in Omdurman, Sudan to train women in sewing skills.

These women and their families had been displaced from the Nuba Mountain's region of Sudan due to conflict. A small business enterprise called 'Zag Rags' was established later which provided income generating opportunities for the group. Zag Rags has always been self-financing, and some of the profits from sales have been used to develop the workshop. Many of the products that the group produce ar

e using tie-dyed material, which the women produce themselves. Due to the nature of tie-dying it means each item they produce is unique! The items include table cloth sets, cushion covers, various styles of bags, soft toys and much more! They will even make items to order, so suggestions are always welcomed. Please do contact us if you have ideas or need specific items. The products are being sold locally at Purple Crayon School, Manshia (opposite MTN offices), and also you will often find the women selling at various bazaars. Please contact us for further information.
