Future Makers is a non-governmental Organization that brings together the brightest young people from around the Sudan, empowering them to make lasting connections to create positive change. Learning and Teaching:
Learning and Teaching is the basis of our program.futuremakers meet at regional and
global summits to learn from facilitators, experts and each other, exchanging ideas and
sharing best
practices. The summits are designed to provide the futuremakers with skills
to make their project work more effective and to expose them to a wide range of different
cultures and perspectives. This
learning process continues online, as the program website features resources such as freely
available online toolkits on project management and social media. The resources are in use
worldwide, providing young people with the tools to become active in their local communities. Doing:
On joining the network, all futremakers must show a track record of community work,and they are expected to work together to scale up their projects. The program provides the network members with mentoring and expert assistance in order to increase the impact of the Changemakers’ work locally, regionally and globally. In addition, Global
Changemakers supports a select number of projects each year with seed funding. Advocacy:
Together with its partners, the futuremakers program gives its members access to
world leaders and policy platforms. Futuremakers are regularly invited to speak on various
issues at high-level events, bringing their own experience and a grassroots perspective to
the table. By representing the concerns of youth at such events, the Changemakers are
ideally placed to share effective practices and innovations with influential policy and
decision makers. Objectives of Futureemakres- Sudan:
Sudan currently faces a multitude of problems – poverty, poor health services, economic
problems, social injustice, illiteracy, tribal and sectarian violence, and poorly developed
economic infrastructure-despite its natural resource wealth. Human Capital is the corner stone of development that this project is targeting, considering
the huge amount of available resources, motivated youth and potential leaders in Sudan. The immediate aim of this project is four-fold:
1. Help mitigate these problems by building the capacity of those Sudanese who
currently work in the non-governmental and non-profit sectors and whose work
addresses these issues on a daily basis; with an expansion plan for the whole Sudan;
2. Build the capacity of unemployed and underemployed Sudanese youth;
3. Catalyze further positive civic engagement, particularly among youth, by showcasing
successful case studies of Sudanese who are making a positive difference for Sudan
in their daily work;
4. Kick-start a dialogue and serve as a platform to connect leaders cross-sectorally to
improve the efficiency and effectiveness of foreign and domestic NGOs services in
Sudan;
In addition, long-term, this project aims to serve as a platform for best practices, the
exchange of ideas and experiences, and improve relationships among and between
Sudanese and international NGOs which will in turn improve efficiency and effectiveness
across the boards
