From East Darfur to West Kordofan, the story is the same: children too weak to cry and mothers with nowhere left to turn. The current conflict & Climate disasters have turned a food shortage into a severe health & nutritional emergency.

Our Country Director, Mohammed Idriss, is witnessing the dire health needs firsthand. Alight is on the ground delivering specialized nutrition and healthcare, but funding gaps are threatening to close our clinics. Immediate, flexible support is the only way to prevent a mass loss of life.

The conflict has uprooted millions, making Sudan the world’s largest displacement crisis. With over 9 million people displaced internally and 4.5 million forced across borders, families face unsafe conditions and a desperate struggle to reach safety and basic services.

Three years of war have pushed Sudan’s health services to the brink. Clinics are damaged, supplies are scarce, and millions of people can no longer access basic care. As health workers and communities struggle to cope, preventable diseases and urgent medical needs are rising every day.

ثلاث سنوات من الحرب دفعت الخدمات الصحية في السودان إلى حافة الانهيار. فالعيادات متضررة، والإمدادات قليلة، ولم يعد ملايين الأشخاص قادرين على الحصول على الرعاية الأساسية. ومع استمرار معاناة العاملين الصحيين والمجتمعات للتعامل مع الظروف الصعبة، تتزايد يومًا بعد يوم الأمراض التي يمكن الوقاية منها والاحتياجات الطبية العاجلة.

With the support of UNICEF Sudan SHARE Project, Alight strengthened primary health services in East Darfur by bringing essential care closer to the communities that need it most. Mobile health teams and expanded community outreach reached hard‑to‑access areas, increasing coverage of routine immunization and improving access to outpatient services.
