يقدم مقال "المدارس الفنية في السودان ما بين الادعاء والواقع" تحليلاً نقدياً لتاريخ الفن الحديث في السودان، مع التركيز على حركات بارزة مثل "مدرسة الخرطوم"، و"المدرسة البلورية"، و"مدرسة الواحد". يبحث المقال في مدى استيفاء هذه الحركات للمعايير النظرية لمفهوم "المدرسة الفنية"، كما يسلط الضوء على حالة التوتر بين تبني الوسائط الغربية مثل "رسم المسند" والرغبة في دمج التقاليد المحلية. وينتقد المقال كيف تم توظيف بعض هذه الحركات لأغراض سياسية أو أيديولوجية، في حين فشلت في جسر الهوة بين رؤاها الفنية وذائقة الجمهور السوداني العام

أما الكاتب، فتحي عثمان، فهو فنان وكاتب وناقد حاصل على درجات علمية من كلية الفنون الجميلة والتطبيقية بالخرطوم، والأكاديمية الهنغارية للفنون، وحاصل على الدكتوراه من جامعة "أوتفوش لوراند". صدرت له عدة كتب مصورة منها "بيت الجاك" (2011) و"من رفاعة إلى فلورنسا" (2023)، كما صدر له كتاب "الخرطوم من الذاكرة" في عام 2026

"Art Movements in Sudan: Between Theory and Practice" provides a critical analysis of Sudan's modern art history, focusing on movements such as the Khartoum School, the Crystalist School, and the School of the One. The article examines whether these movements met the theoretical criteria of an "art school" and highlights the tension between adopting Western mediums like easel painting and the desire to integrate local traditions. It critiques how some movements were used for political or ideological purposes while failing to bridge the gap between their artistic visions and the sensibilities of the general Sudanese public

Fathi Osman is an artist, writer, and critic holding degrees from the College of Fine and Applied Arts in Khartoum, the Hungarian Academy of Arts, and a PhD from Eötvös Loránd University. He has published illustrated books including Beit al-Jak (2011) and From Rufaa to Florence (2023). His book Khartoum from Memory was just released in 2026.

يستعرض مقال "ممارسات فناني السودان في المهجر: الشهادة على الحرب والنزوح" كيف أدى النزاع المستمر في السودان إلى تشتت المشهد الفني في البلاد عبر أفريقيا والشرق الأوسط وأوروبا. يسلط المقال الضوء على كيفية استخدام الفنانين النازحين للتصوير الفوتوغرافي، والرسم، وفن المنسوجات لتوثيق تجاربهم مع العنف والفقد، محولين ممارساتهم الإبداعية إلى شكل من أشكال "الشهادة السياسية". ومن خلال مشاركة أعمالهم على وسائل التواصل الاجتماعي وفي المعارض الإقليمية، يساهم هؤلاء الفنانون في رفع الوعي العالمي والحفاظ على الذاكرة الجمعية في مواجهة النزوح الواسع

هذا المشروع هو ثمرة تعاون بين تنزيل آدم، وهي فنانة جداريات وأعمال كروشيه سودانية، وفاليري هانش، الباحثة في الأنثروبولوجيا الاجتماعية والثقافية. تسخر تنزيل فنها للدفاع عن المجتمعات المهمشة، بينما يبحث عمل فاليري في نقطة التقاطع بين النشاط المدني والفن العام. ويوثق الطرفان معاً صمود المجتمع الإبداعي السوداني ودور الفن كأداة للتشافي والتغيير الاجتماعي

"Exiled Sudanese Artists’ Practices" examines how the ongoing conflict in Sudan has dispersed the country’s art scene across Africa, the Middle East, and Europe. The article highlights how displaced artists use photography, painting, and textile art to document their experiences of violence and loss, turning their creative practice into a form of political witnessing. By sharing their work on social media and in regional exhibitions, these artists raise global awareness and preserve collective memory in the face of widespread displacement

The project is a collaboration between Tanzil Adam, a Sudanese muralist and crochet artist, and Valerie Hänsch, a social and cultural anthropologist. Tanzil uses her art to advocate for marginalized communities, while Valerie’s research explores the intersection of activism and public art. Together, they document the resilience of the Sudanese creative community and the role of art as a tool for healing and social change

يستكشف مقال "هل تتذكر السودان؟ نحو بناء ثقافة بصرية سودانية-أرمنية" تاريخ الجالية الأرمنية في السودان من خلال عدسة الثقافة البصرية والحنين. وبالاعتماد على مصادر متنوعة مثل أرشيفات وسائل التواصل الاجتماعي والتاريخ الشفهي، يوثق المشروع كيفية اندماج اللاجئين الأرمن في المجتمع السوداني، ومساهماتهم البارزة في مجالات التجارة والعمارة والتصوير الفوتوغرافي. كما يسلط المقال الضوء على كيفية حفاظ هذه المجتمعات المشتتة على شظايا من "سودان الماضي"، محولين الذكريات الشخصية إلى أرشيف جماعي للهوية الهجينة

مشروع "سودان آهي"، هو مخصص للبحث في تراث الجالية الأرمنية في السودان وأرشفته. ومن خلال بناء ثقافة بصرية مستمدة من المقتنيات التجارية، والذكريات المعمارية، والتصوير الاحترافي، يهدف المشروع إلى إعادة تصور إرث هذه الجالية في سياق معاصر. كما يعد المشروع تأملاً في تاريخ السودان كحاضن تعددي لمختلف مجتمعات الشتات

"Do You Remember Sudan? Constructing Sudanese-Armenian Visual Culture" explores the history of the Sudanese-Armenian community through the lens of visual culture and nostalgia. Using sources like social media archives and oral histories, the project documents how Armenian refugees integrated into Sudanese society, contributing significantly to trade, architecture, and photography. The article highlights how these displaced communities have preserved fragments of a "Sudan that was," turning personal memories into a collective archive of hybrid identity

The Sudanahye project is dedicated to researching and archiving the heritage of the Armenian community in Sudan. By constructing a visual culture from commercial artifacts, architectural memories, and professional photography, the project aims to reimagine the community's legacy in a contemporary context. It serves as a reflection on Sudan’s history as a pluralist host for diverse diaspora communities

يسلط مقال "شِلة: إعادة صياغة الخطوط" الضوء على مجموعة تضم سبعة من الرسامين والمصورين السودانيين الذين انتقلوا إلى نيروبي بعد اندلاع الحرب في أبريل 2023. توفر هذه الجماعة مساحة للتشافي والتضامن، حيث يتبادل الفنانون الموارد والمعارف لمقاومة عزلة المنفى. ومن خلال بناء بيئة تعاونية تستلهم حيويتها من المنظومة الفنية الراسخة في نيروبي، تحول "شِلة" تجربة النزوح إلى أرض خصبة للابتكار الفني والتأليف الجماعي

تأسست الجماعة على يد وليد محمد، وهي متجذرة في المفهوم السوداني لـ "الشِلة"—أي مجموعة الأصدقاء المقربين. يركز نهجهم على التجمع المجتمعي والحوار، بهدف توسيع فكرة "اتحاد الفنانين" لتصبح مقاربة أكثر وعياً وانفتاحاً على المستوى العالمي. وإلى جانب الإبداع الفني، تعمل الجماعة كشبكة دعم تعالج تحديات النزوح مع تعزيز التبادل الثقافي مع المجتمعات المحلية والدولية

"Shilla Collective: Rewriting the Lines" highlights a group of seven Sudanese artists who relocated to Nairobi following the outbreak of war in April 2023. The collective provides a space for healing and solidarity, where artists share resources and knowledge to resist the isolation of exile. By building a collaborative environment that draws inspiration from Nairobi's established art ecosystem, Shilla transforms displacement into a fertile ground for artistic invention and collective authorship

The collective was founded by Waleed Mohammed and is rooted in the Sudanese concept of a "shilla"—a close-knit group of friends. Their practice focuses on communal gathering and dialogue, aiming to expand the idea of an artists' union into a more globally aware approach. Beyond creating art, the collective functions as a support network that addresses the challenges of displacement while fostering cultural exchange with local and international communities

يسلط مقال "السودان في الواجهة: الفنون البصرية والسينما والثقافة" الضوء على برنامج طموح يمتد لـ 18 شهراً، مكرس للحفاظ على ثقافة الفنون البصرية في السودان والاحتفاء بها. واستجابةً للنزاع المستمر والنزوح، تجمع هذه المبادرة بين الممارسين والمؤسسات عبر جغرافيا شتات مختلفة لحماية التراث الغني للبلاد. كما يؤكد المشروع على دور الفنانين كحراس للهوية خلال أوقات التحولات التاريخية

مؤسسة ألماس للفنون، فهي منظمة غير ربحية مقرها لندن، ملتزمة بالاحتفاء بمساهمات فناني أفريقيا والشتات الأفريقي. ومن خلال الشراكات العالمية والبرامج الإبداعية، تعمل المؤسسة على توثيق وتضخيم الممارسات البصرية المؤثرة. ويهدف تركيزهم الحالي على السودان إلى خلق منصة مستدامة للممارسين المبدعين لمواصلة عملهم في المنفى

In response to the ongoing conflict and displacement, this initiative brings together practitioners and institutions across different geographies to safeguard the country’s rich heritage. The project emphasizes the role of artists as custodians of identity during times of historic transformation

Almas Art Foundation is a London-based non-profit committed to celebrating the contributions of African and African diaspora artists. Through global partnerships and creative programming, the foundation works to document and amplify influential visual practices. Their current focus on Sudan aims to create a sustainable platform for creative practitioners to continue their work in exile

يتأمل مقال "الجداريات: فوضى، مقاومة، لغة مشتركة" التأثير العميق لفن الجداريات خلال ثورة ديسمبر 2018 في السودان. يتتبع المقال تاريخ فن الجداريات السوداني، بدءاً من رسومات المقابر القديمة وصولاً إلى "الغرافيتي" الحديث الذي أضحى أداة رئيسية للاحتجاج السياسي والتوثيق. كما يسلط الضوء على كيفية تحويل هذه الجداريات للمساحات العامة إلى منصات مشتركة للحوار، حافظةً للذاكرة الجمعية وموثقةً للنضال من أجل العدالة، حتى في مواجهة محاولات الطمس الممنهج

"Murals: Chaos, Resistance, and Shared Language" reflects on the profound impact of mural art during Sudan's December 2018 revolution. Waad Ahmed is a Sudanese creative writer, researcher, and activist based in Abu Dhabi, where she works as a technology educator. Her work is deeply shaped by her experiences in the Sudanese Revolution and subsequent displacement, focusing on the documentation of Sudanese culture, memory, and identity. She incorporates archival research, visual experimentation, and creative AI tools into her multi-disciplinary practice
