يسرّ موئل الأمم المتحدة (الهبيتات) في السودان الإعلان عن شراكة جديدة مع حكومة اليابان لدعم المجتمعات المتأثرة بالنزوح في ولاية الجزيرة. وفي إطار هذه الشراكة، قدّمت حكومة اليابان مساهمة قدرها 533,333 دولارًا أمريكيًا لمشروع "الدعم الطارئ للاستجابة للأمراض المنقولة مائياً بولاية الجزيرة (محلية مدني)"، الذي يمتد لمدة عام واحد بهدف تحسين خدمات مياه الشرب والإصحاح والطاقة الشمسية لصالح نحو 25,000 من العائدين وأفراد المجتمع المضيف في دار أم بلال وأم سنط بمحلية مدني الكبرى.
وبالتنسيق الوثيق مع السلطات المحلية والمجتمعات المستهدفة، سيتناول المشروع أشد الاحتياجات إلحاحًا على أرض الواقع — من تحديد الأولويات المجتمعية وتأهيل شبكات المياه في المدارس والمراكز الصحية والمنازل، إلى تحسين مرافق المياه والإصحاح للأسر الأكثر هشاشة، وتنفيذ حملات التوعية بالنظافة والوقاية من الأمراض، وتركيب أنظمة الطاقة الشمسية في المركز الصحي المحلي لضمان استمرارية الخدمات.
وفي تأكيد على الحاجة الماسة لهذا التدخل، صرّح السيد ناكاهارا تاكانوبو، القائم بالأعمال بالإنابة في سفارة اليابان لدى جمهورية السودان: "أسفر النزاع الدائر في السودان عن أضرار بالغة في البنية التحتية، بما في ذلك منظومتا المياه والصحة، مما أدى إلى تجدد تفشّي الأمراض المنقولة بالمياه. ونأمل أن يُسهم هذا المشروع في تحسين الظروف المعيشية للعائدين وأفراد المجتمع المضيف، بما يتيح للعائدين إعادة الاستقرار في هذه المنطقة في أمان."
وتتضافر هذه الجهود مجتمعةً للحد من الأمراض المنقولة مائياً، وتعزيز العودة الآمنة والكريمة، وبناء قدرة الأسر المتضررة على الصمود في ولاية الجزيرة.

UN-Habitat Sudan is pleased to announce a new partnership with the Government of Japan to support communities affected by displacement in Al-Gezira State.
With a generous contribution of USD 533,333, the one-year project "Emergency Support for Waterborne Disease Response in Al-Gezira State (Madani Locality)" will deliver improved access to safe drinking water, WASH services, and solar energy solutions for around 25,000 returnees and host community members in Dar Um Bilal and Um Sunt, Greater Madani.
In close coordination with local authorities and communities, the project will address the most urgent needs on the ground — from identifying community priorities and rehabilitating water systems in schools, health centers, and households, to upgrading WASH facilities for the most vulnerable families, promoting hygiene and disease prevention, and installing solar power in the local health center to ensure uninterrupted services.
Reflecting on the critical need for this intervention, Mr. Nakahara Takanobu, Chargé d'Affaires ad interim of the Embassy of Japan in Sudan, stated: "The ongoing conflict in Sudan has seriously damaged its infrastructure, including water and hygiene systems, resulting in the re-occurrence of waterborne diseases. We hope this project will help the returnees and host communities in Al-Gezira State improve their living conditions so that returnees can re-settle in this region peacefully."
Together, these efforts will help reduce waterborne diseases, support safe and dignified return, and strengthen the resilience of conflict-affected families across Al-Gezira State.
