Captains Brad and Joycelyn with Envoys Festus and Freda are just returning on the MV Fair Queen from a wonderful time of fellowship whilst visiting Bonosi New Opening of the PNGSI Territory and Solomon Islands District. Bonosi sits in the Western Province which experienced significant damage during cyclone Maila. Arriving by MV Pelican 2 late on Friday the team were met at Noro Port by Pastor Apollos and his team then travelled by OBM to Bonosi where we received a beautiful welcome. This continued on Saturday morning and much conversation and singing accompanied by a reminder from Envoy Festus to shine our light bright for the world to see closed out morning devotions. Saturday afternoon consisted of one to one training and discipling of local leaders and meetings with leadership couples. Sunday morning worship was well attended and the Spirit of God was with us as we sang and prayed and explored the scriptures and the question from James 2, How will they know we are Christians. Captain Brad went on to speak about the scriptural foundations of Salvation Army Doctrine and reminded all present that they help us understand how we can live out our faith so others will know the hope of the gospel. Finally, and through the help of our friends in the NZFTS Territory we met with the Provincial Premier the Honorable Billy Veo and Colin the Chair person for the district committee responsibility for the distribution of aid. As the recovery phase continues we know that this contribution will see many families assisted. The balance of funds will be used by our leaders at Bonosi as they visit and assess local need. We did follow Jesus example and on the return trip from Noro to Bonosi take time to rest and play in Gods creation. God bless you each and we invite your prayers for the ongoing mission and ministry of The Salvation Army Solomon Islands 🇸🇧 😁🙏
