WRAM🇸🇧 at CSW ✨
At the Commission on the Status of Women Session 70, on Monday, 16 March (3:00pm–6:00pm EST), WRAM’s Program Manager, Ms. Nauna Revo, delivered a powerful intervention on Violence Response and Accountability during the High-Level Dialogue for Youth Representatives.
Ms Revo was among CSO youth representatives directly invited by the CSW Secretariat to serve as an expert panelist in this official session a significant recognition of her leadership and advocacy.The priority theme of the 70th Sessionis Ensuring and strengthening access to justice for all women and girls, including by promoting inclusive and equitable legal systems, eliminating discriminatory laws, policies, and practices, and addressing structural barriers
Speaking on Violence Response and Accountability, Ms Revo highlighted that gender-based violence (GBV) remains a persistent human rights issue in the Solomon Islands and across the Pacific. She emphasized the many barriers survivors face in accessing justice, including systemic challenges and limited support services.
Ms Revo stressed the importance of ensuring that policies reflect the diverse lived realities of women and girls. She also highlighted the added challenges faced by those in rural and remote areas when trying to access justice and essential support services.
She further underscored:
🔹 The importance of survivor-centered approaches in violence response
🔹 The urgent need for sustainable resourcing for service providers
🔹 The critical role young people play in prevention, awareness, and advocacy for accountability
WRAM stands to support our young women leading these important conversations on the global platform.
During the dialogue, Samoa also delivered a powerful intervention with Miss Samoa, Feagaimaali'i Soti Mapu, delivering intervention for Samoa and brought to the forefront issues faced in the blue pacific continent, a powerful moment of solidarity by young pacific women at the global stage.
WRAM also extends its acknowledgement to the Ministry of Women, Youth, Children and Family Affairs for the inclusion of Ms. Revo in the State Delegation and UN Women Headquarters and International Women's Development Agency ( IWDA) for the support enabling Ms Revo's participation.
