🎉 We’re incredibly proud to deliver another flagship infrastructure project yesterday, with the Australian Prime Minister the Hon Anthony Albanese handing over the AUD45 million state-of-the art Naha Birthing and Urban Health Centre to Solomon Islands.

The project sets a new benchmark in high quality, disaster resilient and collaborative infrastructure development. The Centre was built by a 90% local workforce with a range of solar and climate smart features to keep patients cool and energy costs low.

SIIP has worked alongside the Ministry of Health and Medical Services, Honiara City Council and National Referral Hospital to undertake the necessary operational planning and workforce readiness to ensure a truly ‘turn-key’ development ready to deliver, and maintain, a first class birthing and outpatient service for the mothers, babies and families of Honiara.

We join in paying tribute to the dedication and hard work of many who have turned a vision for modern, integrated, community-based health services into a reality.

The project boasts a number of impressive stats:
🛌 5 birthing suites and 17 inpatient beds, doubling Honiara’ birthing capacity, and providing 1500+ deliveries/year
🩺 Outpatient services and diagnostics catering to up to 720 patients/week
🦷 High quality dental chairs and x-ray, doubling Honiara’s capacity
🩻 X-ray, ultrasound and procedure room
♿️ Fully wheelchair accessible
🔆348 solar panels
👷🏾‍♀️👷🏾‍♂️Built by 90% local workforce, including 42 women
💪🏾 Built to withstand earthquakes, flooding and fire

🏥Everyone’s getting excited! Yesterday was the first time 23 nurses from Naha Clinic got a first-hand look at the soon-to-be-open Naha Birthing and Urban Health Centre. It was a privilege to share the nursing teams excitement about the well planned and spacious environment for both patient care and staff.

The Naha Birthing and Urban Health Centre comprises two buildings, a Birthing Centre with five birthing suites and 17 inpatient beds, and an Urban Health Centre offering a range of outpatient services with nine clinic rooms, two dental chairs, and pathology, pharmacy and medical imaging with ultrasound and x-ray.

The centre will open in stages, commencing mid-2026 with the Urban Health Centre, followed by the Birthing Centre.
